I read a while ago, that it was suggested that for better performance, the piston's O-ring should be switched out to one of ____ size that you can get at your local hardware store.
I would like to know that size, and maybe some other feedback on O-rings. I would like to make a quick stop to a local hardware store so I can stock pile some O-rings to have on hand, and so I can continue some projects I am working on.
Also, is there anything at a hardware store in which I can use as sorbo pads? Like rubber washers or such?

I use mcmaster carr. The correct size is 116. In regular sizing I think it's #14. I have a huge bag (100 I think) of the viton ones. I don't know where you can get sorbo other than mcmaster. I have a sheet and have used a leather punch to cut it. I found it difficult to get a nice and clean cut so I just ordered from scatterplot the last time I needed it. The punch will definitely work but I just happened to need a thickness that I didn't have on hand so I decided to just order it pre cut.

#14 is correct. You can get them in a ten or twenty pack at Home Depot pretty cheap.

Yup, I can also confirm that #14 is accurate.
