Got a slight flyer problem going on with my G&G M16-A4 and would like to settle this problem before sighting in my new night vision optic on her. I've been reading up all morning on some causes to this.
I almost want to say it's my hop unit if it weren't for trying a SHS metal hop unit and getting the same results. I get these three shots in a row, now and then, that severely veer to the left.
Tried two different buckings even, a new G&G and a G&P. Both are rated for low power as I'm shooting under 350fps. I do however, have a E-1 H-nub in the arm, with a Polar Star concave on the way.
I really didn't start to encounter this problem until I recently installed a SHS doubled o-ring cylinder head and a Modify piston head.
The cylinder head almost didn't fit into the Guarder cylinder, almost. And I added just a dab of Blue Loctite to the piston head screw.
Anywho, is it possible that this funky cylinder head is causing my flyer problem? I'm thinking of breaking her down and reinstalling the stock cylinder head.

Have you rechecked your fps. You bucking might not be strong enough due to the fact you have better compression in the cylinder = higher fps.

I've tried a hop rubber rated for a SP130 and she jammed. Tried a Madbull red and the packing pinched too much to go in properly, as sadly did a Prommy purple did just a bit much.
As I stated, this didn't arise until changing the cylinder head and piston head, and both the plastic and metal hop unit produced the same results.
I know the hop rubbers are new and need to be broken in, but the flyers weren't nearly this bad before the SHS cylinder head.
Suppose I'll just have to break her down and change the cylinder head to find out.

Have you shimmed the hop arm in the hop up unit? It might be side to side play in there that is causing the flyers.

No I haven't. But this didn't occur until after the new SHS cylinder head.
Got a metal G&G cylinder head coming, another metal hop unit to try out, a Lonex, as well as a P* concave nub (my stock air nozzle [seems] to be fine). Going to attempt the flat hop mod and see if this remedies my problem. May shim the hop arm while I'm at it, too.

I highly doubt it's your cylinder head, but check your compression anyways. Also, since it sounds like you are having lots of issues installing various types of buckings. Are you applying any sort of oil or grease to the bucking to get it to slide in nicely? You should be, but just make sure you aren't getting so much that it is somehow getting inside the bucking/barrel.

Yes, I have been lubing the hop rubber before insertion.
I spray a little oil on my finger, then roll the sides of hop rubber on my finger.
(never say either of those in prison)

Just installed the Lonex metal hop unit yesterday. I want to say my problem has been solved.
I can't say enough good things right off about the Lonex though. It's tolerance on the hop arm is excellent; no need for a shimming at all.
It allowed me to go back to the Prommy purple hop rubber I was using before with the G&G plastic stock hop unit, but was getting off results due to the packing being pinched? I had gone to a new G&G hop rubber after that.
Anyways, Lonex hop unit, Prommy packing, and what was suppose to be a P* concave nub from FoxAirsoft, but turned out to be a E-1 concave nub instead, has given good results. I was able to zero in my Armasight NV scope last night, and it almost seems more accurate than my Millet DMS-1 optic. Still don't care for that visible red glow of the 810nm Infrared.
