A while ago I bought an AK for cheap, and found out later it didn't work. A headache and a half later I have almost everything in working order (not everything is pretty, but that's the beauty of an AK) with the exception of a few small issues. For reference, this is an Echo 1 Redstar AKM, which is just a modified CYMA CM028 (parts on the inside even say "CM028").
1) The mag guide was taken out, is missing screws, and I can't find a way to get it into the lower. This is the piece that makes sure when you throw your mag in the feeding tube connects with the hop-up-thing (I don't know any of the actual names for these things). Here are some pictures of the parts for better understanding. Here's an apology ahead of time because I took these with my phone.
The mag guide.
The holes where the screws are supposed to go are shown here.
Here we can see that it lines up with the screw holes of the hop-up.
Here I have drawn a convenient arrow pointing to the location this piece belongs.
The other side is pretty much identical. Usually there are ways to slide these kinds of things in, but there doesn't seem to be any in this case. I'm trying to find the spot so I can perhaps glue it down to hold without the screws. Or, if the rails hold it, just put it in. Inserting a mag is much more difficult without this piece.
Issue #2) The screw for attaching the pistol grip to the motor doesn't seem to be long enough. However, when I went to take it apart, it was in there pretty good. The screw and the threads are not stripped, and I'm sure I have the motor cage together correctly. The holes line up, but the screw doesn't make it. Without the wires connected, it will screw in with some figeting, but with the motor connectors on, it will not go on, even though the wires are almost entirely out of the way.
Issue #3) The selector is wobbly. I mean very wobbly. In safe it will wobble about 1cm up or down. It is not the selector gears, or the large piece that serves as the bridge between the gearbox and body, but rather the external switch itself. It didn't do this before I took it apart. No matter how tight I screw the external on (which must be done by hand, foolish design), it will wobble. Not a major problem, but annoying nevertheless.
Thanks in advance for any advice posted. I will try the best I can to solve these problems myself in the meantime.
