My package of deans connectors came today (Imitations from ebay), however it is extremely hard to both put them together, and to take them apart. I assume the part with the shiny steel colored part plugs in, but what do I know?

To be honest, more of a question of which side of the plug I plug it in now... (Long prong, or short prong?)

Both the male and female plug have matching short ends. Those are the ends you solder your wires to. The male plug has the long end with the metal strip that is bowed out. That end plugs into the female plug. Like this.

Thanks for the image. When I plug it in like that, the connectors virtually become stuck together though.

My package of deans connectors came today (Imitations from ebay) Not trying to be an ass, but there's your problem. I don't know what you could do to fix them. Are the bowed metal strips causing too much friction, or are the plug spades too wide? Maybe try pinching the bands gently with some pliers or filing the spades down a bit? I would recommend just buying real Deans connectors from an RC shop.

Pinching it helped a bit. I'm about as sharp as a baseball. That's why I used stupid text speak. a lot End.

Also when you solder the plugs to your gun, battery and charger plug them together. By doing this it heat up the metal a tad bit which will melt the plastic just a tiny tiny bit. This gives the plugs some wiggle room making it easier to plug and unplug while still keeping a good connection.

I hate regular "Deans" or T Plugs. Sometimes they just don't like coming apart, that's why on my original batteries I dremeled slots in them to give them ridges for easier removal. I have since switched to XT T Plug style;
