I had fun but I agree with everyone and there needs to be some landmarks because lot of the game we were lost but some off that is my fault because we were using my crappy ww2 compass that was getting thrown off by my metal gun ( I didn't realize it at the time), also we were to dumb to think "hey the suns in the west ." The night game was a little confusing because my squad never even was briefed and never found spawn and spent most of the night trying to figure out were they heck we were but with a few tweaks this can be an amazing event and any further events I will go to because its so close and has lots of potential. We didnt even have half of our squad for that night game lulz

Not to beat a dead horse but, the lack of landmarks and the mass of undergrowth made land nav difficult. I had to use my phone's GPS a few time to find out where I was. An easy fix though. Just some markers nailed up to trees would fix that. Still, probably not a field for night games. Met a lot of cool people and it was really nice to hang out with the immortals again. Let's not make this the last time we all get to do this. *P.S, you;re pretty!

I was very pleased with this for a first event. As Hylander said the event was understaffed. But it wasn't awful considering the size of the event. But other than that there weren't to many huge problems. The dead horse being landmarks/navigation. There are a couple ways to fix this, even if you cannot get access to build on this property. 1.) Intel should give some sort of direction. Ex: There is a village to the south this location. Rather than find the village. Moffit, Impulse, Mattick and I ended up taking an hour hike finding nothing but trees. 2.) Walls could be made temporary with plywood and 2×4's. (Similar to the Comm tower design.) 3.) Also sand bags are cheap. It would just be a long task to fill and transport. For the night OP there were two big problems. 1.) People were leaving. Sadly. :/ 2.) Because of how dense the land was it was hard to make out trails and find the Respawn zone. A bright spotlight would be awesome in the spawn. But also some of those solar powered garden lights in some places would be awesome.
But I also saw some awesome things about the event. Firstly Immortal and the mods were extremely friendly. That is in my opinion the most important part of an event. Friendliness off the host promotes friendliness of the community. Which leads to my second positive. Everyone there was awesome. Including both teams. Next I loved the storyline and Intel drops(Although I wish there was a little more pre Intel.) The objectives were also purposeful. I liked that both teams had reason to complete the objectives. Not just kill the other team. The radio tower was my favorite. Also I like making a small recon team to find the village. I prefer to play in a fire team over a squad. The best part is that it was only an hour drive! Maybe not even that far! If you guys find a place to actually build I'm sure there will be plenty of people willing to help out. Myself included. Thanks again for the awesome event!

One thing about the objectives is that I think there were to many for the time alotted. I know that we didnt get through even Half of them. I took my squad to complete objectives but by the end of the night I just wanted to run into the fray and kill someone. Wed only been in one firefight the whole day but by that time it was over.
If your open and able to could this end up being a 24 hour MilSim? That would alow for more play time, obviously, buckled with landmarks to make the game run more smoothly and it could be great. I really liked the objctives and would have liked to have seen more of them during play.

Thanks for the good reviews and constructive criticism.
In the future, we would like to have more MILSIMS along with REC games. At this point, we are in need of a place to host. The fella that allowed us to use the property will be leaving for a while.
Due to the drop out rate of players, the last scenario wasn't played out. However, Tan won by points. I believe the points were 165-85. Good job Tan!
Once again, thanks for coming. We are hoping to blaze a trail in Mid-Michigan. Thanks for the support!

Woot go tan! We rocked the thor all day long! I have nothing else to say Green Team's Squad Two did a good job at sweeping through Tan. I think we took out 11 in a row before taking a casualty. After we got past the thicket where the woods cleared out a little again we were out of luck and got bogged down in a fire fight trying to link up with Squad 1.

And squad 1 simply got screwd from the start... Don't worry guys I'll make it up to everyone at the next Dark Shores event. I wont suck so much then. Props to Tan team. Even with the numbers they had, it was still clear who won this game.

I've been busy but better late than never to weigh in I suppose. I was on Green team squad 2. Sorry for any broken English, it's late and I'm making do with the time I have.
Pros: 1) Story was awesome; I didn't catch much of it for various reasons but HUGE props to Priest for his work. 2) Introduction and safety speech was also excellent, great work. 3) Great location, hope another game will be hosted there in the future (probably won't make it again due to distance though). 4) Chrono guy was awesome. 5) FREE FREE FREE PEOPLE! 6) Had waivers on site. 7) Had water bottles and even brought them out to green FOB when requested by a player, a very responsible action on their part.
Cons: 1) The separate parking, chronoing, staging areas, and changing the green FOB made it very confusing for many people. Half of green team spent the better part of the night game going between these points just so our guys could find their gear. 2) Squad leaders and our CO tried contacting the Administration by radio multiple times during the day game and never received responses. This led to green team getting a late start since our CO couldn't contact an Admin to determine when the game started. More importantly, if an emergency had happened then it could have inhibited the speedy provision of medical attention. 3) Being in an unfamiliar forest composed of mostly similar tree species, flat terrain, and no eye-catching landmarks was "OK" in the day; but without radio communication made identification of targets difficult, and navigation at night nearly impossible. 4) The classified envelopes we're a neat idea in theory, but I'm not sure they really worked in practice. Maybe if there were twice as many players at the event they would have been better. 5) Starting the night game while half of green team was on the field without goggles on and uninformed of the game start (despite administration knowing where said green members were) was reckless to say the least. We're lucky tan team noticed something was amiss when a dozen green guys appeared behind them just after game start.
Suggestions: 1) Have the administration, briefing, parking, and all that stuff closer together. It would be way more efficient and make organization among administration easier. I'm honestly not sure why the briefing spot was a separate location from everything else. 2) Add a four to eight landmarks; something like different colored oil barrels would be nice. 3) Condense the social media. All the story was nice, but it would have been better if all the need-to-know information was posted in the initial event post. I just don't have the time or energy to go web-hopping or creating social media accounts to find a map or squad roster. 4) In general, the administration needed to act as a more cohesive group by keeping abreast of situations and communicating them to the other Admins.
Comments: 1) Props to Green 2 squad leader during Game 1. I don't know him but he seemed like a very cool guy; he didn't bark orders like some military wanna-be or shirk his duty like someone forced to be the leader. With some practice being a squad leader I'd love to follow him at any event! 2) I'm a huge fan of free OPs for lots of reasons; but with the amount of effort you all put into this despite however people feel it turned-out, you might have at-least offered a chance to make donations or had a suggested donation of $1 per person to help cover costs or go toward improvements for the next OP. 3) Props to Tan for doing a great job and acting effectively; as far as I'm concerned you all beat us green hands-down. 4) I have mixed feelings about the establishing the radio tower objective. It's a good objective but for this OP (considering turn-out and such) it might have been too much.
Had a great time and really hope to make it back in the future. Totally recommend the next game they host to anyone. Thanks a ton Immortal, good show!
