I have been out of the loop for buying airsoft stuff the last year or so. Last I knew MAG brand mags were a pretty good deal and a decent magazine. Has that changed? Is there a new dog I should be looking at? I have a budget of $50ish and I am trying to get at least 6 quality mags. ( possible?) What I am really asking is what brand should I be looking at to get some cheap mags that feed great? I am fine with plastic mags and I am looking for mid caps. thanks for the help.

I think MAG are still considered the best bang for the buck. I don't have any of the plastic ones but I have some of the netal 190rd ones and they are pretty good. I do notice however that their fit isn't as good in most magwells as my pts pmags. They tend to be much more wobbly and be more prone to misfeeding whereas my pts o es work great. I have no idea if the same applies to the plastic MAGs but that is my experience, and honestly I don't think it is a fault of the mags, just the loose magwell.

Best mags hands down are PTS Mags. Nothing else holds a candle.

PTS mags are a strong contender. Their light weight, par with other polymer based gear and are reliable. But they are also pricer and hard to come by.
MAG still makes great mags and even makes a 170 round mid cap (it's almost not far). There mags aren't that cheap either though and for the most part only come in traditional stanag type.
KWA makes some decent PMAG knock offs that I have never had any problems with between my Ares,Star,VFC,KWA rifles. They have all the functionality of the PTS (removable base plate, removable outer sheath for cleaning or painting, internals able to be dissembled for cleaning or repair) but cost about half as much.
