Hey guys I was taking apart my M4 to rear wire it and once I got to my gear box I couldn't take it apart. I took out all of the screws and it wouldn't budge. Unless there's a hidden pin somewhere I have no clue what the problem is. I've watched numerous videos on how to take it apart and they all just took out the screws and it came apart. My gun is an AGM M4 Full metal, if you know the problem or you think you do please let me know, thanks! My problem was fixed, thanks everyone.

Things to check and make sure are out and disassembled. -mag release -small pin in the middle of the body, just above the trigger, and just infront of the selector switch. Just one pin there, not more. -both body pins -buffer tube -pistol grip -any sort of bolt catch -if ambidextrous, selector switches need to be off usually -if it is a 2 piece hop up, the piece attached to the receiver needs to be unscrewed. It also helps to set the gun to semi, and sometimes pull the trigger a little to slide the gearbox out.
If you go through all of those, and it still won't come out, let me know.

One of my old ones had little hex screws under the selector switches that held the gearbox into a fixed position.

I might have misread that. Did you get the gearbox out of the lower receiver? Or did you take out all of the screws out of the gearbox and the GB shell won't open?
If it is opening the gearbox itself, then you want to be very sure you have a screw driver that will fit in the back of the spring guide (there should be a hole), and hold down the cylinder, while taking the top half off of the gearbox. And ease the spring out with the screwdriver.
Also, even before that point, you want to make sure the spring has as little tension on it as possible, usually by making sure that the gearbox is reset.

If the gearbox is out, and you took all the screws off the gearbox, just take a flathead screwdriver and pry at the bottom of the gearbox (where the motor goes through). That or you can give it a few taps from a rubber mallet to loosen up the shell halves from each other.
Other then that, if the gearbox is still inside the reciever then @t6e9a hit it on the head with what to look for to remove. If you haven't got the gearbox removed from the gun, what stage are you at? Is the gearbox simply in the lower receiver? You removed the hand grip, motor and motor screws? You removed the gearbox body pins. If you have a two piece hop-up you removed the screws out of the lower hop-up section correct?

Does your gearbox have that metal piece that slides down the top of it that locks both halves together? I believe it was an A&K box that I took apart that had that.
