OK, so I put my KWA SR-12 back to stock (installed a Polarstar, put it into a different body, now selling the KWA). I got it all put back together and hooked up a battery.
The motor sounds as if its attempting to fire but there is an incredible amount of heat coming off of the battery, wires and motor. I'm a little out of my element here. I did a search and didn't find anything too conclusive.
Do you guys think that I may have a short somewhere? I checked on the motor and the wires were correctly hooked up to the corresponding posts.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated

If the motor sounds like it is trying to turn but it can't then I don't think you have a short. Most likely there is something assembled incorrectly inside your gearbox that is not allowing the gears to spin. This will cause the motor to draw an excessive ammount of amps from the battery as it struggles to spin. The increased amperage will heat up your electrical system much quicker than normal usage would, and it will only get worse the more you hold down the trigger.
I would recommend that you stop pulling the trigger altogether, and take everything apart to ensure that it is assembled correctly. Make sure the gears are not binding (over shimmed) and that the piston is on track and not binding in the shell. If there are any parts you changed from the stock setup then make sure they fit right, or switch back to stock for testing purposes to eliminate variables.

No it's nothing like that, I've never even had this one apart. The only upgrade in it is a 6.03.

It is still possible that your motor is slightly misaligned causing the pinion to get stuck somewhere. Otherwise, if there is a short or a problem in the electrical system there isn't much diagnosing that can be done without seeing it in person. I'd say take it down and check all of your connections. Pay close attention to anywhere that thw wires make a bend or contact metal or a plastic corner such as going into the stock or exiting the gearbox.
I would also say to double and triple check that your motor connections are on the correct terminals.

Everything was on correctly. The problem was I pinched a wire and was having a bad connection. Wire strippers, solder and about 10 minutes later the problem was solved. Thanks for the trouble shooting help ctres.
Mods feel free to close this post as my problem is solved.
