I am just getting into airsoft. Does this look like a good gun to start with? I like some of the mods avail for it and love the look and feel of a SIG. Thanks for any and all feedback. www.airsplat.com/Items/ER-ICS-SIG-52.htm

From what I hear the ICS sig is pretty decent. I wouldn't order from airsplat though they haven't been known to be a great place to buy from.

From what I have gathered, the SIG mags are hard to find (FROM WHAT I HAVE HEARD) and I have never had a problem with Airsplat.

Maybe I have been misinformed and the battery space for sig's is pretty tiny.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I found a few sites selling mags for around 20-30$. They clip together just like the one that comes with the gun.
Also would you guys say the 551 might be a better choice so that I have more room for a better battery?I think i would prefer the extra 3in anyways.

Either way, you are going to be looking at a stick battery. A friend of mine picked an ICS Sig up as his first replica and we all loved it. Only thing is (which may have been remedied by now) is that midcaps are almost nowhere to be found. Also, the King Arms midcaps for Sigs do NOT work in the ICS model. The bb feeder does not line up with the hop-up at all with the King Arms mags.

The ICS SIG 552 is a great gun. The mags can be a little hard to locate from time to time. But they are great quality none the less. Now I know that the SIG 552 Commando now comes with a PEQ Box to hold the battery. So you wont need the stick battery. The stick battery should only be for the ICS 551. I hope this helped.

Bro,
Yep, the ICS Sig 552 is a sure thing, I've owned mine for a little more than a year.
Functional, can modify internals, currently a good amount of inexpensive external mods , accurate, reliable... and it'll retain it's value if you ever decide to sell or trade it later.
Battery space is something you'll need & therefore will likely want it wired to the front for a peq box. For the time being, you can go with a medium to small battery.
Peq boxes are largely overpriced for what you get, so take your time & buy a nice used one-- just takes patience. Also, you can expect peq boxes to be too small & may end-up having to buy a battery that fits, if you're not mindful.
The stock is decently sturdy, but be cautious when un-securing it from the secured position-- if you twist the stock, it'll crack at the seam. Lotta people do this unaware, including me. Sucks.
Besides the battery space, another downer is the mags: they pretty much REFUSE to seat correctly without conscious effort. This is a real pain, especially in the middle of a firefight.
I'm convinced the mag seating issue is why a lotta people won't buy 'em or get rid of em. But practicing often helps a lot.
It's a very legitimate main carry, and it's pretty versatile.
It's kinda intricate & detailed and it'll be hard to feel ok with getting it muddy in the field.
Another thing to watch out for is that the bolt latch is removable, I encourage you to take that off & put it somewhere safe, until you're ready to adjust the hop-up or show-off the bolt catch feature.
I love mine, am hoping to find another. $189 is a good price.
Can find some excellent repair parts & external mods at evike.
Let me know if you have more questions.
