Thought I'd run this by y'all: looks like AN/PEQ-15 replicas really started coming out in large numbers while I was overseas, so I'm not completely up to speed on them. Though I was not issued a real one downrange, I would like to use one as a battery box on a M4A1. I haven't figured out which one to get, here's the information I've dug up so far: [/color][/b] [li]consensus: most realistic PEQ [/li][li]optional laser [/li][li]can possibly fit mini li-poly batteries G&P[/li][li]battery box [/li][li]unknown dimensions King Arms[/li][li]oversized dimensions [/li][li]can fit custom NiMH batteries Pro Arms[/li][li]laser included [/li][li]battery box function Beta Project[/li][li]VFC clone/realistic battery box [/li][li]labelled "Matrix" by Evike Vanaras[/li][li]realistic battery box [/li][li]only available from overseas retailers AMP Tactical, Amoeba Optics, PRO&T, G MIC[/li][li]laser included [/li][li]light included [/li][li]pressure switch included [/li][li]unknown battery function (none?) Airsoft Battery Packs[/li][li]only option I've seen with NiMH battery included [/li][li]unknown dimensions Tokyo Marui[/li][li]AN/PEQ-16 variant [/li][li]optional extension for mini batteries All, more or less[/li][li]plastic rail mount [/li][li]most are molded for the dimensions of the real device [/li][/ul] Is this more or less correct? What's missing, or needs to be updated? 02/09/2012: G-MIC added

That sounds right to me, but I'm sure there are a few other people here that know some gritty details that may help you out.

You missed the The pro&t/g-mic ones, which are a clone of the VFC and have a fully realistic function with the top button and pressure switch. They come in a green or red laser version and sound pretty great. The green laser ones are quite hard to find, but I'd like to get my hands on one.

I think I know a thing or two about "realism" but I'll add the G-Mic to the list. Also, thanks for your input JD.

No doubt, as you mentioned that you just got back from overseas, I guess I missed the part about wanting to use it as a battery box. As another thought, you can get RC lipos for really cheap that are higher quality than airsoft specific ones, and for something like a peq 15 box, you will have a ton of choices with RC brands since a similar size is used in small planes and helicopters. Here are a couple possible options www.hobbypartz.com/98p-25c-1300-2s1p.htmlwww.hobbypartz.com/98p-25c-1300-3s1p.htmlThe 7.4 would probably fit, but the 11.1 might be a little big. If you are able to find a peq really cheap, then you'd save a bit of money compared to buying one of the $35+ combos.

Holy crap! Hobby type LiPos have REALLY gone down in price since I last looked at them like 3 years ago.
I remember paying $40 for some little piss-ant 7.4vlt 600mAh battery down in a Lakeland hobby shop and that was a good deal at the time.

$7 for a lipo? Damn, and I thought $20 for a mini NiMH was reasonable... that is a great find, thank you much.

No problem, here is what I'm running right now if you happen to be interested in buffer tube types. www.hobbypartz.com/98p-20c-1200-2s1p-2222.htmlHobbyking.com also has really good deals but is in HK, so shipping isn't free like on hobbypartz. Some of the Sky lipo ones on hobbypartz are even cheaper and are similar in quality to the gens ace ones.
