Hey everyone, I have a M4 and when I press the mag release button the slender piece of metal that pops out on the other side. (Right below the bolt release button and in front of the selector switch.) It gets stuck and won't go back in, which requires me to push it back into the right spot to load a magazine in. Other wise the magazine will just fall out. Just wondering if anyone knows of anything I could do to fix this.
Thanks.

Missing a spring possibly? If not, there should be a mag release screw that you can tighten up with a tiny allen wrench. Tighten it up and see if that solves your problem. If all else fails I'd just grease it up minimally.

Is the release sticking but is still trying to return to it's proper place, or does it just stay out when you engage it? If it just isn't returning and isn't stuck, that sounds like you lost the mag release spring, were you messing with it lately? If it's just sticking try a little bit of any noncorrosive gun oil.

It tries to return, but it stays out just a little bit.

Does it have a hex screw visible on the button side?

There's a very tiny screw or allen wrench hole on the button, I don't know if that is what you are referring to though.

Well, either there is a hex screw or there isn't. If there is, then just make sure it's tight. If there isn't, then you can probably tighten the mag catch a bit. To do that, you push your mag release button so far that the lever sticks out the other side. Give that lever a full clockwise spin while holding the button in place. Let it come back into the cut-out for it and see if that works better.

It's not letting me do that. Earlier today when I was looking at it I realized that the bolt (It's an electric NBB) seems a little high. So I went to press the bolt release button and it doesn't work. Which I don't understand because I haven't messed with it. With that said the bolt has to be forward to be forward to disassemble to check if I am missing and springs or anything so I don't know what to do. Any ideas?

I don't know exactly what you're trying to say. This is an AEG, right? There is no bolt, it's got a gearbox. The bolt release doesn't do anything on most AEGs. What brand M4 is this? That might help.

It's a King arms and when you pull the charging handle back the dust cover comes open, and locks the "bolt" back. www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=HosYgDRVmNA#t=89sThis video shows what I am talking about. At 2:05 when he presses the button to release it, mine doesn't go forward. The button won't even move. This is hard to explain without pics I apologize my camera is charging.

Its sounds like something is locked up or binding somewhere. Can you slide the upper receiver forward at all (even just an inch) and inspect?
This problem is complicated enough that a video would be really helpful.

I can slide it forward about 1/3 to 3/4 of an inch forward. I will try to put up a video tomorrow.
