What would be the easiest and most cost effective way to increase teh accuracy and range on an AEG. I know you could install a tightbore barrel but is there anything else? I don't want to have crazy high FPS just medium to long range and good accuracy. I'm looking at buying a G&G CM M4 so upgrades would pertain to that model of gun. Thanks guys.

I'd just use it stock for a while and see if you still feel that you need more range out of it. At that point, a tightbore barrel is something to think about. I know a new bucking can help too sometimes, but I was under the impression that the stock G&G bucking was pretty good already.

If you'll be running a G&G CM M4, then as stated above, keep it stock. I love my CM M4, haven't touched anything in it, and it's my best performing rifle I own. I don't plan on upgrading it, possibly a Prometheus TBB and a Polar Star Concave hop-up nub, but that's about it. The gun is beautiful stock. Edit: In terms of range and accuracy, it's rather surprising at how well this thing performs straight from the box. I can't tell you exactly how far I can get mine to reach out accurately (that also has to deal with how well you tweak the hop-up), but it goes damn far. Although adding a TBB, and a PS Concave hop-up nub, will only help it more.

Hahah awesome. I've heard G&G is really good, so stock it is. I don't even have enough money for a new barrel. You said it goes really far, like 180 - 200 ft approximately? Something around there? Because that is perfect. I guess if it's not perfect enough then I can go and drop $40 on a TBB.

X Ring piston Rings can provide a very slight increase to both due to better air seal. I have had nothing but good luck with these.

G&G buckings are great, and they already have a tightbore. You're set.

Yeah I'll probably stick with the stock gun for a while and then maybe get a prometheus. Maybe. Thanks for the advice.

Do not get a tightbore, they already have one.

I don't believe the Combat Machines come with a tightbore barrel. If you have the extra money, I'd pick one up. Their full metal line definitely comes with a tightbore, but not the combat machines.

I was under the impression he had a regular G&G. Oops.

I have a combat machine m4 and I installed a AirsoftGI 6.01 tight bore and a SCS nub. That set up was a little over 50 dollars. I've had great success with this set up paired with madbull precision .25s, but if anything a 6.03 barrel is the way to go. As far as what brand, for the price I am pretty content with the AirsoftGI brand (Masamune) but I also have had success with my Madbull 6.03 for my DMR.

@kaboose, How far approximately did it shoot before and after the TBB upgrade? Fish and Ghast, I don't have the gun yet. I just wanted to make sure I could hit targets with it, from a pretty good distance, straight out of the box. If not I'll need to pick up a TBB. But from what everyone says it shoots great stock and maybe after a little bit of play with it I'll try some upgrades. @everyone, Thanks for the info.

Your range increase will be minimal with a tightbore.

Lolwho, Is there any way to increase range more than minimally? Like a longer barrel?

Your goal is to increase both range and accuracy, which increases what we call "effective range," the range at which you can accurately hit targets. A quality tightbore will tighten your groupings up some (I haven't heard much about airsoftgi barrels, so I tend to recommend Prometheus or SystemA 6.03 or 6.04mm), and a good hop up bucking will give you some added accuracy and range. You can always upgrade the spring in your gun up to 400 FPS, but then you lose the ability to play in CQB. But that will only give you an extra 25 or 30 feet of absolute range, and even less effective range. And even if you think you don't want to play CQB right now, wait until the third month of the winter and you'll be chomping at the bit for any kind of game play. For me, I'd go with a good bucking and a good tightbore and leave the velocity stock. That'll give you the most out of your gun while allowing you to play in CQB. You really won't be out ranged by 95% of guys on the field. A stock G&G gets you competing really well. You just have to learn how to shoot it.
