Storyline
Operation: Firestorm – Invasion Day: Plus One
United States and South Korean forces were unprepared for the entry of China into the conflict on the Korean Peninsula. Two divisions of Chinese infantry, supported by significant air and artillery swept south from neighboring Shenyang Province, overrunning coalition positions and forward operating bases.
Remains of the U.S. 10th Mountain along with surviving elements of the South Korean military attempt to retreat back across the DMZ towards Seoul for the defense of the city; while the U.S. 2ND Infantry Division moves into forward positions north and west of Seoul.
Operation: Firestorm – Invasion Day: Plus Two
Reserve units of the Republic of Korea come under heavy fire as the 115th Division supported by North Korean artillery attempt to breach the coalition line near Yeoncheon, 62 km north of Seoul. A combination of US and ROK sorties and armor repulse the assault and succeed in pushing the Chinese back across the DMZ.
Frontline 2nd Infantry units observe Chinese forces reorganizing and digging into positions within 5 km on the Northern side of the 38th parallel. The North Korean 7th Special Operations Division is reported to be operating on both sides of the DMZ; targeting already weakened coalition positions. US nor South Korean intelligence in unable to confirm the location of the 7th Division.
