First, I think it's important to know that Sig Sauer doesn't make any airsoft guns. When buying an airsoft gun, always look for the airsoft manufacturer, not the real one. A lot of different companies make replicas of various Sig pistols, and some of those replicas are excellent while others are shit. The one you're looking at is made by KJW, according to the listing. Here is a review of the gun you're looking at written by the one of the most knowledgeable guys in the hobby on the subject of GBBs: justpistols.co.uk/kjwp229.htmHe's reviewed hundreds of guns and knows what he's talking about. His reviews have never led me astray. I do own this gun, but the review he's offered is far more comprehensive than any I could put together on the fly. I suppose I should add, I did run into one major problem. The chamber and barrel assembly on mine snapped where the two parts meet. I was able to get a replacement P226 chamber and barrel (thanks Ehlers!), which I cut down to length. Since then, I haven't had any other malfunctions. I don't use the gun very often, however.

Why not get an AEG as your first airsoft "gun"?

If this is your first airsoft gun then why, might I ask, have you chosen a pistol as opposed to a rifle? You can get a very good rifle for the price of the P229 in your first post. If you are interested in a rifle instead, I would like to suggest the G&G M4. I own one and love it. www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_24_237&products_id=6554It is also cheaper in price as the P229 in your first post.

The rifle above is, in my opinion, the best starter rifle on the market. A very good rifle for its price. I've owned two, and loved them both.

They come great stock, and you have endless possibilities to upgrade it more if you so wish. You can't go wrong with a G&G M4. The gun also comes in a CQB version which is the variant I own. Same price and you can play CQB a little easier with the shortened barrel. It is, however, still great for field play. www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_24_237&products_id=7966

Guys, maybe he just wants a pistol. There are a lot of different ways to enjoy airsoft, and gas pistols are most certainly one of them. The G&G is a great gun, and if you want to start with an inexpensive M4, it's the perfect option. If that's not what you want, then it's not such a great option.

Good point Knief. If you are looking for a pistol as opposed to a rifle, I have owned a KWA M93r and it is a great pistol. It offers semi-auto, 3-round burst, and full-auto selective fire modes. www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_25_151&products_id=4560You can use this for CQB and it does keep up in field play. I let Fugazi use it at a game at No Limits and he did quite well with it. If you go the pistol route, I would at least consider this gun.

Zulu,
First hand accounts of a gun's performance is always great way to learn about it, but remember that not everybody wants the same qualities in a gun as you do. It's more important to guide somebody toward the gun that's right for them rather than the gun that's right for you. So while an oversized, high capacity full-auto hand cannon might be up your alley, the OP's choice at least hints that he'd be more interested in a more standard, compact semi-auto piece. Sure, there's a chance that he just hasn't seen the M93r, but the same could be said for just about any other gun on the market. It's far more helpful to find out what qualities the OP is looking for in a gun than to just start naming guns that you've owned and liked. The market is far too big for that too be helpful.
Once you've helped the OP narrow down his options (say he wants something with a lot of parts available, full metal, and compact), you can start listing guns that fit his criteria rather than your own (KWA Glock 19, KJW Sig P229, some 4.3 or 3.8 WE 1911, etc). If you don't do that, your list looks a lot more like throwing darts at the GBB list on a big retailer's website (for instance, some gas guns I've owned and would generally recommend (TM MEU, KSC Glock 19, KJW Para Ordnance, KJW P229, KSC M93r, WA V12 Vreaker, WA SVI 4.3, KSC TMP). They're all great guns in one respect or another, but they all have different traits. And they're certainly not all going to suit the OP's needs.

Wasn't trying to shove my opinions down his throat. Just trying to throw some feelers out there to see what he was looking for with some guns I have had good experiences with.
What qualities ARE you looking for in your first gun Fear Roback? If what was posted is not what you are interested in, then what can we help you look for/give you advice on?

Fear, seriously, quit it with the weird capitalization. It just makes your posts harder to read. If I see that again, I'll be giving you an official warning.

I've always had a thing for Sigs. Good choice! The majority of my team will be out there but I can't make it. Hopefully I get to sling some plastic with you sometime.

I do have a buddy who used a KJW Sig, and the only issue he seemed to run into was the feeding lip on the mags, and one of the internal parts chipping. To my knowledge, he still has it, but he doesn't use it any more. I'd say just be extra careful not to drop your mags.
