Airsoft BB: An accurate Airsoft gun starts with precision BB's. Precision BB's should have a diameter as close to your inner barrel as possible with the lowest deviations. To ensure maximum accuracy, range and power without jamming, you should be very selective on BB's. 0.12g: 200~280 fps 0.20g: 240~370 fps 0.23g: 330~430 fps 0.25g: 350~480 fps 0.28g: 390~500 fps 0.30g: 400~600 fps 0.40g: 450~600+ fps
*This chart is for reference only. The best way to determine the weight that works best with your Airsoft gun is to shoot them. (Due to factors such as hopup, wind, inner barrel diameter, brand,...ect.)

More importantly, did you just copy & paste that from evike?

I figured it would be good to be stickied, and yes it is from Evike but I edited it so it wouldn't advertise. This would be helpful to someone looking to buy or someone who wants to know about BB's.

I'll move it to Newbie discussion, but I too do not see any value in that chart.

I'm not sure what this chart is telling me. Is it saying that "x" gram bb will produce "x" fps or if I want "x" fps, then I should use "x" gram bb? The chart just seems unfinished and lacking.

From what I can tell, the chart is inaccurate. A high density BB will produce a low FPS and a low density BB will produce a high FPS. And furthermore, this would be a great guide if you test each BB weight with a certain spring type. If you test the BB weights on an M100 spring, those test results will be different than using an M110 or M120 spring.

I believe it's trying to say what weight BB you should use for a certain FPS.

Oh, that makes sense.

Yeah, it's basically saying that if your gun is shooting X FPS with a .2g BB, then you should use .__g BBs for optimal performance. And while empirical testing is the only way to know for sure that you're using the right weight BB, I'd say that this chart is pretty off. I think that the best online source for what BB weight to use at a certain velocity would be the Airsoft Trajectory Project. Also, there's a reason that stock TM AEGs come with .25g BBs, and it isn't because they should be used in guns that are 350-480fps.
