Hi. I was wondering if any old paintball mask would work for face protection. Or does it have to be a higher quality one bought from airsoftgi.com or such? Also, do paintball masks get in the way when resting your cheek near the stock of an M4?

Just wear ANSI certified goggles, if you are worried about getting hit in the face buy a mesh face mask from ASGI or evike they allow air to move better instead of up into your goggles.

OK thanks Juicebox. I'll probably stick with my Arena FlakJacket goggles then. I was just unsure if paintball masks were better in some way.

I play in a paintball mask. I never had a problem with fog when I played paintball, which I suppose makes me lucky. I definitely like the extra protection. The mask does keep me from getting a proper cheek weld with an M4, which is why all my guns have optics on risers. They end up looking a little gawky, but so long as I can manage to hit, I really don't care.

I have some military surplus goggles the ones that come with the dark and neutral gray lenses would those be fine?I'm a little hesitant on bringing those to an event game.

Joeska, If they are rated with at least the above, and full seal (foam all the way around face contact points), and have the elastic strap going around your head, chances are it's a safe bet they will be allowed.

I could never use iron sights or anything with a paintball mask or airsoft mask so I just bought a pair of goggles and a striker mesh mask.

You can always wear a balaclava if you are worried about a BB hitting your face, and they look pretty cool if worn with the right headgear .

I completly agree with Zorak, I have been using a full head(?) paintball mask, that way, the money maker stays scratch free. I personally also like the added protection it gives me when I see other guys with bloody cheeks. My $0.02
