Locutus, do not make assumptions about the game that WE set up. We have talked to the police, and they did say it was alright to play at that site, one of our fathers made us talk to them. The place is in Novi anyways. Don't go around saying that noone should play, you aren't being a good help to anyone who is going to the game.
Edit: Orange on the barrels won't hurt too. Also, Keller could probably give better information on what the police said, I wasn't there at the time.

There actually was a kid killed in Detroit about a year ago, for waving an airsoft gun around. Granted he wasnt killed by the police, but a person in his neighborhood thought he was acting like in simple terms and enemy gangbanger, and shot him. The kid lived 3 or 4 houses down the real shooters. I may sound like a wet blanket....but is that little inch long strip of orange paint worth more than your gun, or even your life?

Duncan, I wasn't making any assumptions, I was going by the information that was presented.
If this is the case, then Sickpointe's father should be provided with the correct contact information for the local authorities in your area.

What can I say, Detroit is a much different area than Novi, but everyone should know, if there is a bystandard or a policeman around in sight that may have the wrong idea, then the right thing to do is put down the gun and talk to then and assure them otherwise, there are some ignorant people out there. Sorry about snapping at you Locutus, but it just seemed that the thoughts and comments made from that information was breaking up a fully legal game, And I kinda freaked out when people said they weren't going to come. As you and others pointed out, I do agree that precautionary measures should be taken.

Just to clear up a few things, All of the past times weve played at this field we have called the police before hand and notified them. Also, uh yea, Its good not to play with stupid airsofters. But its also your responcibility as vetrans to keep stupid airsofters from doing stupid things in your presence because they represent us all as airsofters. And we as airsofters dont want a bad rep now do we. Anyhow, back on topic, We do not usually notify the police until a day before the event so Anybody who has called them probably has gotten a negative responce. I would also suspect that an unsuporting parent probably isnt going to ask in the most persuasive way either. (they probably say somemthing like "would you actually let kids with extremely realistic guns run around shooting BBs at eachother on private land") Of coarse their going to say no to that. I would suggest that people let us do the calling before they give everyone in the force a bad opinion.
Hope that didnt sound to negative but some things just rile me up.

Before Ed left he told me that someone was going to fix up the field for him. Well, he ordered $25 from me and said the person that was going to fix up the field would pick them up. Would that person like to know where to get them?

yeah havok, he ordered sandbags right? Ed said that either I or Luke should pick them up, it would be good to know where we need to go.

Okay, Why is Sickpointe always causing so much controversy throughout the forums. and, me and my friend really would like to go to rapid response. AND OUR PARENTS WANTS US TO GO. they are tired of us shooting our walls up at home. So, as long as its not to cold, we are still a go. i dont have the orange markings on my guns, because they piss em off. so ill probably tape some bright pink electrical tape to the barrel. So, I hope to see you all there. And as I leave, I will quote our friends(or enemys) from NWA...
F#$% the Police...

sorry guys, I was reading and had further thoughts
It is government Land and We have notified police in the past and have had psoitive responces. Also , Last time, A few parents waited outside the play area while their son(s) played. This was good because if any authority came by then they would be the're to make sure that no one got the wrong impression. I have been told that their will probably be parents there this time also. also I have orange ellectrical tape that people can tape their guns with. Further more, not that it partains since we will notifie authorities, The cops will (90% Sure) not take your gun away if your under 18 so long as your not doing somthing stupid in the procces (we have had experiance with this multiple times). If you where say, vandalizing somthing with it then they would most definatly take it away. If you are over 18, you will definatly not have it confiscated at this event.
Also id like to adress the stories about cops shooting people. Now this is just my opinion but just hear me out. Lets say you are a cop. you are driving down this construction drive road (dont know what else to call it but its not driven on for much else but construction further down the road). First lets say sombady told you to ivestigate it because you got a call for people with guns. At this point you would not just charge into the area by your self if there are guys with guns. You first drive up slow and see what you can see. Now, lets say you see a guy running in the woods. OK so your ballsy and you get out and slowly aproach the wood edge. Hopefully by this point one of the parents or groop of dead players might do something about a cop aproaching with a gun. But if not lets say you keep going and by this time you can definatly see a kid in cammo aiming some sort of asault rifle over somewhere. Now lets keep in mind that this is a close game (At least when I play I think I can see at least 4 people who are ussually pretty close). So chances are, before you can even get close enough to fire a real pistol at this kid with a gun, youll see other kids yelling and running around with guns and OH MY GOD they are shooting at each other. Now this is interesting because even though the guns arent making large bangs and there is no flash, according to some people this looks VERY SUSPICIOUSE, they might be TERRORISTS or somthing, but why would terrorists be in the middle of the woods shooting at EACHOTHER. As the cop, I doubt that you would be like "OH MY GOD, KIDS WITH GUNS" and then just start poping off rounds. Especially since you have only about 10 rounds in your real mag and these are kids with assault rifles. Even if you sensearly were decieved by the situation, you wouldnt want to get killed, you'd call for back up. If your just driving by (In Novi mind you) and you see kids running around with guns pointing them at eachother you dont just jump out and yell "OH MY GOD KIDS" and just start blasting off rounds. Besides, most accidental shootings happen in dark places or at night where its hard to make out a person with a fake gun or whatever and we are playing in the middle of a forest in braod daylight. My advise to you all is to put my orange ellectrical tape all over your gun and wear civilian clothes if you want and to simply put your gun down and your hands up imediatly if you see anyone you dont recognise. Besides you all make for bad terrorists anyhow but ED well they might shoot him on spot.

ill tell you guys since ive talked to the cops about it. You CANT get in trouble for playing an innocent game of airsoft, wether you are under 18 or not. The cop did tell me though that "it is responsible of you to keep orange on your barrel" this does not sound like you could get in trouble if you didnt, but who knows Also its not that hard to keep a small strip of orange electrical tape on the bottom of your mag, so you can easily switch it over to the muzzle, just in case anything were to happen now, i think that any cop would tell any parent what they told sickpoint's dad, just to make them feel safe, and to make the themselves look better. jackstraw made a good point, itd be interesting to ask the same cops exactly which laws the kids would be breaking, which im sure they would not have an answer for. just my thoughts, hope noone decides to explode on me

Don't think I've posted anything here yet, mainly because I've had to wait till I had the transportation all worked out before I could commit to playing on that day. But, all that is now taken care of so Ballista and I will be showing up for sure. Hopefully Bigmack will be there too since I need to purchase a bag of bb's from the lad. *crossing fingers* I have about 400 or so left from OP: Arctic Freeze, but I don't think they'd last tooo long. In case Bigmack does not make it to the game (or the bb order does not make it to him in time) will anyone else have any for sale at the game? Just looked outside and it seems the snow is sticking around tonight, so who knows...I may finally be able to use that snow camo of mine afterall! Muhahahahah! ;D

well, Hado, i *should* be there....the more i think about it...as long as noone is an idiot and goes out into the open with their weapon, we shouldn't have any problems....
not like last game...where the group of guys went *around* the pond...and out of the forest...in sight (under 100 yards) of a condo complex...
i'll have your BB's, mate...they should be shipped quite soon...they take 2 days to get up here...sooo....they'll be shipped on Weds, and be here on Friday.
