Im not new to airsoft but wondering about this league. Whats the average age for players im a teenager just looking for the occasional weekend battle near my area. So just wondering. Also whats the average fps of the guns. I use a 500 fps ak47 with red dot and light attachments with a 400 fps c02 pistol as my sidearm. Also do we wear armor or just what our camo is i just wear a sweatshirt and take it like a man. So just wondering

There are soooooo many things wrong with what you just said. MIA likes to promote use of proper grammar, that way we can understand what you are trying to ask. Second MIA events have a FPS limit. I am not going to bother explaining them go read the stickies that should have been read before posting. I would go read all the rules before posting again.

Unless you upgraded your gun, it's not shooting that hard. Whatever it says on the box, you can usually knock off 100fps or so...
At any rate, we have engagement limits, which are discussed in one of the several stickies here on the boards. If you're actually shooting 500fps, you can't even be anywhere near whoever you're shooting at. I use a gun that shoots about 330, and I'm actually downgrading to 280 to increase my rate of fire, and help the longevity of my gearbox. Fps means nothing when you play with the big boys. Pistols are typically used for CQB, in which case, your pistol would be shooting too hot. You'd have an engagement limit. I'd sell it and try to buy a Gas Blow Back that runs on Green Gas, or Propane. Those don't shoot as hard, so you'll only have an arms length engagement limit. They're also upgradeable, unlike a Co2 sidearm.
As for armor, we dress pretty appropriately. Check the gear threads, or the gallery. A lot of people go out of their way to do accurate military impressions, myself included. Plate carriers, camo, helmets, boots, the works. Check the ODA 561 gallery if you want an idea of how serious some of our players are. You can wear a sweatshirt if you want, but I'd wear a plate carrier over it to carry your magazines. Some people wear regular clothing with a plate carrier over top of it.
Hope this helps.
Edit: Juicebox, telling him to correct his grammar and NOT answering his question is not going to help him grow as a player. Sure, his punctuation isn't great, but he just needs to watch his I's and give it a good college try. Last I checked, "soooooo" isn't a word, neither is "wrng." That's the moderator's job, not ours.

Ok thank you but i did upgrade my gun a bit i do have a aeg m16 that shoots about 340 if thats better. I was typing that on my ipod so understandably the grammar and punctuation is worse. Thanks but what is the average age for players?

Average age can range anywhere from 14 to 30, sometimes younger or older than that! Every game is different, so I'm not sure on the overall average age. I'm 20, most of my friends that play are between 19-25, some being older.

What are you joining? Also I believe 8mm airsoft guns are not allowed.

What are you joining? Also I believe 8mm airsoft guns are not allowed. He's right. Most places in MI do not allow 8mm guns because of the difference in kinetic energy. Stick to 6mm.

What are you joining? Also I believe 8mm airsoft guns are not allowed. 8mm guns are allowed. However, like Fugazi was alluding to, you need to make an adjustment for the energy. For some finite distance, your force grows like (1/2)(mass)(velocity)^2. Therefore, your 8mm bb is roughly in the ballpark of 0.40g, and roughly 1.6 times the weight of a 6mm (0.25g) bb. Using the work-energy equation F(dist = finite) = (1/2)(0.00025 kg)(106.68 m/s)^2 = 1.423 Nm To equate that energy to an 8mm bb... 1.423 Nm = (1/2)(0.00040 kg)(v)^2 v = sqrt((1.423)/(1/2*0.00040)) = 84.35 m/s = 276.74 fps. So, to equal the force of a 6mm bb at 350fps, your 8mm would have to travel at 276.74fps for a finite distance. EDIT: I'll check my math later... finals week is killing me. EDIT 2: I will show the correct work later but the real answer is 227 FPS

Thank you Dahm for making my brain hurt. I'm a CIS major I have nothing else to say, we don't have to do math.

Juicebox, I too haven't had to do math in a while. I graduated in graphic design so the last time I took a match class was high school.
On conversation. In terms of average age: someone made a poll in the general discussion. If that helps go check it out. My friends and I are all over 30. The eldest is 39 and I am the youngest at 30. We play with people much younger and even older. In the end anyone that follows rules and is honest is welcome. So age isn't much an issue.
Also still wondering what you wanted to join. If you mean a team, then you should check out the recruiting sections.
