That vest is basically that manufacturers "step up" from what we get issued, so it's very much useable, and should last you a pretty good while. Get yourself some good pouches and you can easily rock that without any issues.
I would still recommend CB because it goes well with all camo types, and blends well in most areas, but if you really like OD, go with what you know you'll like. But I would look for pictures or people wearing woodland digi with CB and OD to compare and see what you like better

Well, I looked at some pictures and now I'm really leaning towards coyote brown My only hesitation in wearing a brown vest with green camo is confusing other players when teams are divided up by camo color (quite often I understand). Is this an issue to be worried about?

Is this an issue to be worried about? No because the only factor in determining the team you're on is the color of the camo you're wearing. Gear doesn't count. Good call on the CB too, it works with every single camo I've ever seen.

There are "hidden" map pockets inside each side of the vest, plus the zipper to open the vest up. Honestly, useless.

Hi blarg92,
I'm a newb like you and just starting out basically in the same situation looking for a good rig. There are rigs out there that come with pouch sets that are a bit more money, but might save you in the long run especially when you consider shipping costs.
I'm looking to do MILSIM events at some point. My dream would be to do Irene or God help me Berget. One thing I've noticed about some MILSIM events is that they restrict uniforms to Woodland or DCU. In my opinion CB looks better on woodland than OD or Ranger Green looks on DCU. Problem with CB though is that some companies appear to have different ideas of what CB is in terms of shade of color. For example, I've been told that Pantac and Flyee are just a bit different in their CB color. That Flyee is closer to the Eagle CB than Pantac. I'm not sure if the same issue exists for OD Green or Ranger Green.
Looking at the vest you linked I can't tell what it is made out of for sure. It might be a nylon vinyl backed cheap vest with cotton stitching that could come apart on you if you ever run any heavily weighted pouches after awhile. However, for the price I guess you couldn't be too upset if it did crap out on you after only a few games so no big loss.
The other complaint I've read about the less expensive material is that some times the MOLLE isn't properly spaced making it hard to run pouches and sometimes pouches can sag on the vests.
Good luck.

The more you get into the game the higher quality stuff you are going to want. If you are looking to start inexpensive, remember that you have to consider first and foremost what you want to carry as your primary. That will determine what kind of pouches you will need. There are a lot of ready & cheap vests out there that come with pouches. ( cgi.ebay.com/New-OD-Molle-System-Light-Tactical-Body-Armor-Airsoft-/290367923073?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item439b46e381 ) In the end remember that the vest you buy will also need pouches added and the cost rapidly increases. It may all add up fast and by the time you are done with shipping, and all the things you want on it, you might have been able to buy one that was slightly better and prearranged for you. *added example vest.
