I know it sounds strange. Bear with me.
I have a UTG black leg drop holster taking up space in my closet. I never use it for fielding because it is black. I want to paint it OD to match my plate carrier and assorted BDU's.
Since the holster material is some kind of fabricated nylon, how would I approach painting it? I know I should use some type of Fabric spray paint, but am clueless as to what type and brand. Would just normal Krylon paint be acceptable as well? I hope to make the paint job last if that helps at all. Not looking to to buy some fancy-schmancy military grade only-available-online-for-this-expensive-price-stuff, just something generic that I could pick up at Joanne's, Michaels, or even ACO.
If there is already a discussion about this elsewhere that I happened to miss, please send me there.

Gear has been painted by guys in the field before. It wasn't too far fetched a few years ago.
Just hit it with a nice dose of tan first, then OD.

Thank you for the reply. What type of paint would one use?

Get some rustoleum spraypaint that matches the color you desire. Then, go at it.

Get some rustoleum spraypaint that matches the color you desire. Then, go at it. I'm hesitant, but I'll take the advice. I would like something that is specialized for Fabrics or plastics. But, I'll go out today and try to find something that works after some more research.

The guys who actually use this gear for real generally use whatever paint they can get their hands on. Whatever you can find at Meijer will look a lot more authentic than some sort of specialized paint you can only get at an American specialty store.

I've painted quite a bit of my gear in the past, and nothing terrible ended up happening.

Some Olive Green outdoor Krylon or Krylon Camo paint is what I hear to be the norm after looking at other forums. And GBiscuit, I wouldn't expect anything to go wrong with spray painting. I've heard of sometimes gear being a bit stiff, or small flaked coming off, but thats really not a huge concern.

Get some rustoleum spraypaint that matches the color you desire. Then, go at it. Rustoleum it was. The Rustoleum Camoflauge worked out great, both shades of tan and green. Two coatings were fine. I also recommend this to anyone else that wants to paint gear. I also painted some lense covers and knee pads, so it works on everything.

I want to paint this tan:

Your photo is broken Carnage. That said, you can get Rustoleum at Home Depot. I painted a leg rig of mine a last month as well and outside of the fabric 'absorbing' the paint and requiring a few layers, all is fine. I suspect it'll start chipping off when I end up using it but I'm not terribly worried about that... A photo of mine after I did it, the rig started out as black.

Thanks Knife. And the broken image was from a proxy url to get around my schools network blocking sites like Airsoft GI (which is where I got the picture from).
