hey, this is my first thread on mia(i use airsoft ohio), and i was planning on selling/trading my ics-25 m4a1.... and led me to the beautiful WE SCAR. gbb+scar= awesome to me. i love the scars, and wanted to get one... echo1- sold out dboys- no warranty vfc- no classic army-no we gbb scar- not sold out. i've been looking at them since September, and the realism is amazing. btw, i like realism. semi mainly.... no spray and pray ;D besides the mag costs, and the maintenance(don't mind taking time to do that.. i have time) is it worth getting a WE SCAR/MK16? thanks.

Your grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc is all very wrong. Read the rules if you want to make your stay here a little more enjoyable. I am not a mod, but I just want to let you know before you find yourself in trouble. Anyways, I think the best thing to do when deciding if a gun is "worth getting" is to read some reviews. Look around online and see what you can dig up. I recommend not listening to reviews from retailers because they're usually biased and want you to purchase the gun. Look around, and make sure to read more than one.

Thedeisel,
Paranox is correct, we ask that all of our members use proper grammar when posting here, and we enforce that rule fairly strictly. We're not looking for perfection, everybody makes simple typos. But you need to at least try, and that means using proper capitalization, punctuation, and spelling. You're also going to want to leave out any chat or texting abbreviations, like "btw." Lastly, try to type in complete sentences, rather than breaking them up with line breaks like you would on AIM. You're making a post on a forum, not in a chat room. The more completely you compose your thoughts, the better we'll be able to understand and help you.
If you haven't yet, you should check out the Forum Rules section to see how we run things around here. We're a little different from AO, so some of the netiquette here will be different from what you've picked up over there. You'll also want to check out the thread on our warning system here so you can avoid them.

I say no to GBBR guns in general. Too many people have issues with them and the mags/price. If you've got a fair bit to spend then it can probably be made to work, but I'd still say no.

I owned one, and I will never own another GBBR again.

I own a KJW, Gbbrs have their down sides for sure, but for the most part I really enjoy mine. I have only had it for a few weeks now, however the maintenance seem easy enough.

thanks for all of the grammar suggestions... was in a hurry. But anyways.. I do plan on getting 6 mags from a AO friend. he does have a scar for $325(with the mags), but i'd rather have a newer one. so i guess i would get the mags for about $80, not bad. i know their GBB m4's are amazing(due to the customer to company communication), but are around $400. i do have an ics-25 m4, and i wanted something other than another m4. i bet 80% of airsofters have a m4. i want to be that other 20%. I would also get the NPAS kit to adjust FPS, as well as save gas. the lower the FPS, the less stress on the gun(i don't know if that applies with GBBR's).
Timm, why did you not like GBBR's? what did you have?
i heard once you go GBB, you never will go back to AEG again.

Thediesel, being in a hurry doesn't excuse you from the rules. Please start capitalizing where appropriate from here on out.

I had Timm's WE SCAR-L GBBR.
Where do I start..... Externally they were nice, but pretty fragile, the stock wasn't too strong. But it looked great. Internally it wasn't bad, they now have the open bolt and the open bolt kit, mine was still the older closed bolt. The recoil was pathetic, and the internals were a pain to keep operating.
The mags were probably the worst part. WE rubber quality is as low as it gets. I was constantly repairing the seals because they would quickly dry out or something random.
I would avoid WE for just about any GBB or GBBR. The WA are better but not by much. If you really want a GBBR that badly get a KJW, but there aren't too many aftermarket parts for it currently.
I've owned AEG's and GBB's for a number of years, I would never give up an AEG over a GBBR. GBBR's are fun, but when they take a dive (which they will) they can't be repaired quickly. Get a AEG SCAR, then get a GBBR one if you really must.

Thanks triggs.. The reason(mainly) Was the blowback. Is it that bad? When i saw videos of it, I saw that it had pretty good blowback....
What AEG scar would you suggest??

ANY blowback is fun, AEG BB or GBB. However, it's all for show. AEG BB is nothing more than a noisy piece of metal flapping about. A WE GBBR isn't much better, it looks cool but there isn't much recoil from it.
The DBOY/CA/Echo1 SCAR's are probably the nicest (and most affordable). Avoid VFC and STAR/ARES like the plague.

My buddy has the VFC and it's the most amazing looking replica.. And it never works. He has had it in the shop more than he has had it on the field. How can a gun with such beautiful externals be such a pos?

It's made in Taiwan ;D I hear ya, my VFC SCAR-H fried the motor in less than 400 rounds, and I ended up building it a brand new gearbox from the ground up because the parts were so inferior. I had to keep a couple pieces because they were proprietary, but anything replaceable has been. NOW it's dependable Sadly the externals aren't all that great either. Most of the parts are made of a cheap powder metal or pot metal (depending on the part) which wear out very quickly. My nice bolt catch is junk after less than 4 months.

I've owned a WE scar, a GHK Ak74, and a KJW M700. Basically what Triggy said plus they are gigantic moneypits.
