Needing a Gas Shotgun Expert Stat!
I plan on investing into a gas shot gun, there are two particular models I am looking at: Marushin Mossberg M500 SSB Tactical Cruiser and the Maruzen M870 Composite Stock. Has anyone any experience with these?
M500: I hear this gun is all metal construction with a composite stock, nice! Also I hear with a valve upgrade this baby can take red gas and pump out over 1j worth of energy on its bbs. This is the gun I am currently leaning towards on buying. Question: Redwolf says this gun is discontinued; but airsoft toy sells them, anyone have the real answer?
M870: Know thing about this gun, it just looks sexy. I never approved of Maruzen’s build quality of their guns. Anyone know the materials of this gun? Power? Anything?
Ed, you have a gas shottie of some type, speak up!

I am not an expert, but I have used many gas shotguns.
Keller and Duncan from LKA bought the M500 (jointly) and used it for over a year. I have skirmished with it and I can say it's a good weapon. Yes, it is all metal in construction (pretty heavy!). It can shoot 30 shots of 5 bb's each. The stock and pump handle look convincing so basicly the gun IS the real thing (only it shoots plastic shot instead of lead shot). I don't know about a red gas hop-up, but Keller made his shoot CO2 from a converted 12-gram adapter and a paintball gas regulator. It was small enough to fit in the rifle stock so the gun retained its good looks. Ahhh that gun looked so sexy...Duncan, why did you sell it?
Yes, I have a M1100 Maruzen shotgun. The only reason why I bought it was because it was upgraded to shoot red gas. I have read many 'a time that the Maruzen shotguns have really crappy power. I remembered the M500 that the guys had and the weak power it had before it was upgraded...that is why I spent the money to get mine suped-up. The shells look real, the guns however don't. I don't know this for sure, but the Maruzen shotguns have both plastic bodies and barrels. Mine however, has upgraded metal ones (he he). I would recommend that you get a full-stock shotgun. The gas reserviour (located inside the butt stock), is rather large and can supply more that one game...I wish I could say the same for the mag capacity. With the 870 you only get 5 shells, thats nothing. Even so, you will need to buy a mag catcher so you wont lose the shells. You also have to put it on in the perfect way, otherwise the shells will jam when they come out (I have one with my shotty).
Shotguns are tricky tricky weapons...never perfected in the airsoft community. I think TM shotguns are fun but they aren't real shotguns...just very powerful, multi-barreled springers. You will have to spend a lot of money; I paid $500 for the M1100, Keller his brother and Duncan together spent over $400 for the Mossberg by the time it was sold. Wow, with that cash you could easily buy an AEG with a couple of hop-ups and a metal body. But AEG's are never as fun as a shit-spraying shell-machine.
If you have any specific questions, you can find everyone's e-mail on the LKA website.

Well, if you do buy a gas shotgun, I felt the power of that M500 stock, and it was as wimpy as my grandmother throwing gravel!! You would probably want a valve upgrade, but the look and feel of the M500 was great, we had the silver one, and it was just awesome with its all metal body, and whenever it was cocked it just filled me with joy, unbelievable realizm in that shotgun. I needed money, so I sold it to some guy for $325. He better be freakin happy, cause that was a great deal for a gun that we made shoot well over 300fps, using 5 shot spread.

I am thinking about getting a M870 fullstock shotgun but have heard that the power on shotguns isn't so great. You mentioned that you managed to upgrade your shotgun to use red gas. Is the upgrade for red gas possible on the M870 fullstock and is the upgrade just a simple gas valve or does it contain multiple parts. Also Do dyou know of any one that sells the valve upgrade for red gas? Thanks

Congratulations, you have revived a thread that has been dead for over a year and a half. That's got to be some kind of record.

Jacko, I think this is one of those times where it's ok to revive a dead thread. Xavior did some searching and came across a thread that he had a question about. It was a good technical question directed at a specific post in the thread rather than, "yeah, the maruzen shotties are 1337!"
Xavior, unfortunately, Ed hasn't been around in a while. You might want to check the email address in his profile, it could still be active.
