I've searched the internet for hours and I can't seem to find anyone selling JGSDF uniforms. I did find a single seller who had just a jacket, but I'm looking a complete Shinmeisai set. I figured some of the guys here have managed to track down items that are a lot harder to find, so if you've got any leads then I'm very interested.

Here's a link I found discussing basically the same predicament you're in. www.militaryphotos.net/forums/archive/index.php/t-82261.htmlLooks like that pattern is restricted (as of 2006) though, so good luck finding some for sale. My guess is you are either going to pay a LOT of money for it, or should just start looking into a different camouflage. Also if you are fat or tall, you are probably S.O.L. too.

Because I thought Japan had no active role in any military I looked up really quickly this Japan Ground Defense Force.
Turns out they now have a 40 BILLION dollar budget for the military as of a few years ago, the fifth largest in the world which is rather surprising to me.
North Korea getting a little too crazy for them I guess eh?

If I remember right, in the Japanese Constitution that MacArthur helped draft after WWII, they are barred from having an offensive military, but are allowed to have land, air and maritime defense forces for the defense of the Japanese islands. Now, what is the big difference? Who knows.

That's a shame about the restriction. I guess I'll just have to wait for someone to start producing a decent copy.
I read that the JMDF is actually establishing a naval base in the Gulf of Aden along with a bunch of other UN nations to combat piracy. That, and Japan actually has a ministry of defense now and the JSDF is being reffered to as a military in official publications for the first time.

That's probably the desert version shown on wikipedia while the woodland version is up for sale.
