There seems to be a lot of confusion on FPS Restrictions using different weights. So I put together a little table that shows the MAX FPS for each weight according to MIA Engagement rules.
Someone shooting 455fps with a .30 will be exceeding the 550fps limit with a .20g BB.
Airsoft FPS / Weight Conversion Chart Weight in Grams 0.12 |0.2 | 0.23 0.25 .28 .30 .34 .43 Joules ----+-----+------------------------------ 452 |350.9| 327 313 296 286 269 239 1.14 531 |410.9| 383 368 347 336 315 280 1.57 711 |550.9| 514 493 466 450 422 376 2.82
MIA Rules are with a .20g BB. 1.0 - 350.9 fps - Arms length engagement limit 351.0 - 410.9 fps - 20 foot engagement limit 411.0 - 550.9 fps – 50 foot engagement limit, bolt action or permanent* semi-auto replicas only. 551.0+ fps - Prohibited or allowed with permission of event organizer only.

And to make it easier for event organizers, I suggest having a speed loader full of .2's at the chrono and to put a pump of it into their magazines before they fire. I did this at Aurora and it worked out quite well. And it guaruntees everyone is using the same weight bb's and not sneaking by with a slightly heavier weight bb.

Jump, nice link. I really like the basic distance calculator.
My rifle has an effective range of 247.82 feet. (No hopup added)
And a typical cqb aeg (350fps) has a effictive range of 157.43 feet.
