This is my review of my Celcius CTW X-MAX that I received today.
The gun is very stable and solid. Very little wobble between the upper and lower receivers. Celcius has matched the ptw very well in my opinion, I have owed a PTW Supermax so I do have some background on the rifle.
On to the External review:
The crane stock is made of a good grade poly-carb plastic and also features the foam you will see on the ptw crane stock.
The stock also features the same end cap as the ptw which I found to be very nice.
One problem I found with the crane stock was the rubber butt pad's glue was weak and started to come off, It was an easy fix with some super glue though.
The Buffer tube unfortunately has the same shiny finish as the PTW models.. I guess you gotta take the good with the bad. It is a six position buffer tube though which is nice.
Celcius wanted to have a huge logo like Systema's phoenix, theirs is a dragon.
Not much to say on the carrying handle, It has the same mat grey finish as the body.
The hand grips are the same design as the Systema's as well although the systema grips are a bit thicker.
The CTW has a one piece outer barrel finished in gun metal gray, it is very sturdy and has no wobble.
The hand grip is the same sleek and thin design on the ptw.
One thing I don't like is the very shiny black delta ring.
When first opening the receiver, I saw the gun was very neat and clean on the inside. A nice addition I saw on the ctw was a rubber cap on the mag catch. On the ptw, it would some times continue to fire even though the magazine was empty. This was because even though the magazine would push the mag catch up, it didn't seem to be enough. This rubber cap gives it an extra boost to make sure it stops firing on the last bb.
The CTW has a feature where when the mag catch is pushed in, a blue light will turn on. This light is a low battery indicator and it will start flashing when your battery is low. Now some have been complaining that "it will give away their position while playing a night game" but this light is small and when the upper receiver is closed, you can only see the light if you look through the thin crack between the upper and lower receiver.
Now on the the upper receiver:
When removing the cylinder, it looks like Celcius paid very close attention to the PTW.
The barrel looks very nice and the hop-up chamber looks to be milled out of aluminum. The inside diameter of the barrel is 6.00mm, This is very nice but you have to watch what bb's you use and be sure to clean your barrel every game.
I didn't get a chance to chrono the CTW cylinder but comparing it to the PTW's cylinders, you cant tell the difference.
Magazine has a mat gray finish and hold 120rd each. They also have the same follower and the ptw magazine.
I did a couple test fires to see its grouping. I did two tests both at 25ft from the target. I used Bioval's .27g BBBMAX bb's.
The first time I shot five rounds and they had a 1.25" grouping
The second time I shot five rounds and they had a .75" grouping.
A couple more pictures of what is Steal on the CTW.
Basically the barrel and all the pins are steal.
If you would like to know anything else let me know. Hope you enjoyed the review.
