Airsoft of Kalamazoo and the KZOO Crew Presents
Oasis Compound Hostage Re-Enactment
This is a real historical event. We will be sticking to the details of the actual event as closely as possible.
We will be using the upstairs for the first time for this event to simulate the roof drop!
Location:
The Airhouse
1809 Reed St.
Kalamazoo, MI 49001
August 2003: City of Yanbu, Saudi Arabia: Militant forces claiming to be the “al-Quds Brigade” a known affiliate of Al-Quaida, storm a foreign petrochemical compound, killing 5 foreign workers and wounding many more. This raid is just another in the escalating domestic terror attacks plaguing the U.S. Friendly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
November 2003: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: Suicide Bombers, claiming the same link to the “al-Quds Brigade” kill 17 foreign Arab workers at another petrochemical compound. The Saudi government, in a press release aimed at calming its citizenry, calls for “military retribution on the terrorist threat…”
January 2004: The U.S. Embassy issues a statement to its citizens living in Saudi Arabia, warning them to leave the country or face mortal danger.
May 10 2004: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: A German man is randomly gunned down at Riyadh Airport. Responsibility is once again claimed by Al-Quaida affiliate, the “al-Quds Brigade.
May 17 2004: Khobar, Saudi Arabia: Militants, reportedly dressed in military-style uniforms, opened fire with automatic weapons on compounds housing oil company offices in Khobar. Vehicles were left riddled with bullets and some burst into flames. The gunmen then fled into the luxury six-story Oasis housing compound and took hostages. Saudi Arabia's de facto ruler, Crown Prince Abdullah, said in comments carried by the state-run press agency that four militants had killed about 10 Saudis and non-Saudis - including a female child.
"Security forces will, God willing, deal with them and with others like them with force," he said.
He added that militants would not be allowed to undermine the country's economy
May 18, 2004. 6:30AM: Khobar, Saudi Arabia: A message is posted on the al-Quds Brigade’s website: “Americans will not be allowed to steal Saudi Arabia’s riches….”
May 18. 2004 11:00 AM: The Saudi Ambassador confirms in a public statement that 7 American hostages are being held at the Oasis Compound.
May 18, 2004 1:00pm: Television cameras show Saudi Special Forces being dropped from helicopters onto the roof of the Oasis Compound. It is not known how many militants are inside, but the Saudi Government is determined to stop the reign of the al-Quds Brigade and bring a tentative peace back to its country.
