I was wondering out of the two what has the best realiabillity overall? Is it worth buying a spring to change in and out of the G&G for I can play cqb and field? Does the Susat scope from G&G fit the Ics L85?
Thanks

The G&G is pretty superior to the ICS. I think almost any review would agree, but I haven't had personal experience with both, just the G&G. That may also be a biased comment based on the fact that I'm pretty sure ICS blows and G&G is the best AEG company around right now...

I would say that over all, G&G probably has the better reputation right now. ICS has never really gotten past the "I Can't Shoot" moniker it earned in the earlier days. Where as G&G has really turned around and has been producing quality replicas for about the last two years or so.
If the G&G has a quick change spring, then I could definitely see it being worth buying another spring.
As far as the Susat from the G&G fitting on the ICS, I doubt anyone here as much idea. For that particular gun, I'd almost suggest looking on a European airsoft forum, like Arnies. You'd be more likely to find Brits buying them to make accurate loadouts.

The Army is a direct clone of the G&G and one of the best out there. Really a nice piece of metal, I wish I wouldn't have sold mine.

Jump- I wouldn't say a direct clone. The G&G uses a magnesium body while the Army does not.

Several favorable reviews out there of the ICS L85A2. www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=74963www.airsoftretreat.com/reviews/showproduct.php?product=302www.airsoftica.com/index.php/airsoft-guns/108-ics-l85-review.htmlGeneral discussion of the various brands at the links below: www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=165773&hl=L85A2www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=169790&hl=L85A2www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=164801&hl=L85A2Videos of various features (sorry about the terrible music): www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJCB55cSmyEwww.youtube.com/watch?v=_199T_lKsTYwww.youtube.com/watch?v=O9mra9NOOzYAATV at the IWA interviewing the ICS spokesperson briefly. www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAecwEDNY8cNeedless to say, I love my ICS L85A2 and I wouldn't want to skirmish with anything else. In general, I'd say that MiA has an anti-ICS bias. Asking opinions about many guns on MiA often results in skewed answers (or flaming : largely due to the small size of the forum and how vocal some members can be. Not to slam MiA, but it is always good to seek out many sources of info before making an expensive decision. I would be very wary of taking the word of anyone who is not providing any evidence for their claims. Your best bet is to search around a bit on other forums (Arnies, ASC, etc) and read a variety of reviews. Feel free to PM me if you have more questions about the ICS L85A2. I believe, however, that the links I provided give a pretty good accounting of the gun's capabilities in comparison to the other available brands. I can't comment on the ability of the ICS L85A2 to accept the G&G, STAR/ARES or other brand SUSATs. As far as I'm aware the UK military is moving towards using the ACOG rather than the SUSAT. Both, however, at least in airsoft form, have poor eye relief. Try PMing RSM or Stealthbomber on Arnie's about this question or any other general questions you may have about the various L85s out there. As Thor stated, UK boards have a larger proportion of people fielding L85s and some individuals have experience with more than one brand. Like I said, I wouldn't trade my ICS L85A2 for any other L85 (or any other AEG rifle) on the market.

We say ISC sucks because a lot of us have experience with the brand and how much they suck. We also say G&G rules, because a of us have experience with the brand and how fucking amazing it really is. Go with the G&G.

It was never horrible. The only problem is the stupid blowback, there is a small piece that can fall into your GB. It only takes a few minutes to get that piece out and disable the blowback.

ARES trumps both of these chumps.

^ Evidence ^ ? That doesn't mean much without facts to back it up. Since ARES is pretty much STAR, they don't have the BEST track record. Especially since some of the ARES guns definitely had less bang than their buck when they came out (Tavor TAR-21).

I'm sort of with Dahm... Xaos and I both have Star L85s and they're very, very nice guns. However, until someone has reviewed the ARES L85 to make sure that it contains the same essential goodness, the jury is out. It's not enough that they use the same blueprints. Any change in the quality of any of the little parts could make a big difference in the final result.

I am a fan of the G&G L85A2. They fixed almost every problem that was found in the A1 as well as a more comfortable trigger.
I will also tell you what is never mentioned in the manuals. Every L85 I have touched uses a pre-cock system similar to the PSG-1 while on semi-auto. This means that your first shot will be dry. I have seen on the Army version that when you put a 9.6v battery in it gives slightly TOO much power for this system and it makes it double-feed/mis-feed on semi. I have not tested this with the other versions to establish if it is just a flaw of the design or not.

Apparently anything ARES did on their own wasn't the best work out there. They did, however manage to improve the L85 (somehow).
I thought it was Major Scott that posted an article here when he visited ARES' US operation exalting ARES and all their products? I may be mistaken. Scavengre on ASF (I only go in chat) has inspected both and the ARES L85 has a better handguard and metal gearbox, not that there is anything wrong with the Lexan. My brother has a STAR L85A2 and the handguard seems to be cracking along the seams, but not majorly. That and the spotty charging handle weld are the only two complaints I have with the STAR. The charging handle bent backward then snapped off during a game.
I have a STAR AEG of my own now and it is top notch. If ARES uses the same amazing hop-up STAR did I will be buying from ARES in the future. If you don't know STAR hop-ups are like TMs hop-up, but at US exit velocity standards.

I have one last question about L85's. On the G&G models is there anyway of putting a rail on the bottom so I can mount a grenade launcher on it? I dont wanna pay for the custom grenade launcher.
