Sounds good. We'll decide QUICKLY on what we want to do and the rules when we're all together. No more than 8 minutes to decide though. I don't want people to be sitting around not doing anything for too long. Keep the energy going.

I'd plan out the night with games that take approximately the same time to play, so we'd have a choice of assassin or VIP, instead of "hey guys, what do you want to play?"
I'll probably be the only guy there in Flecktarn, so you guys will be able to pick me out of the group quick. I'll also be bringing two sets of WD, 2 sets of MARPAT and Civvies.

Ok, what I'm going to do is offer a few game types, have a quick vote, describe the rules, then start the game. That way we'll have choices of what we want to play, while keeping it quick and simple.

Like I said on the mercs and assassins, I have never played it.
Add one more with me for now. He will also be bringing both woodlands and civies. So thats two of us for either side.
Side note: D4mnit do you have a brother that plays KoL?

I do have a brother, but I don't know what KoL is. Hopefully he'll be coming, but I don't know yet.
If anyone has a friend that wants to play but doesn't have a rifle or has had some AEG issues I have a couple I could rent for the day, assuming you're over 18. You can PM me for info.

Kingdom of Loathing. Its an online RPG with stick figures or something. Buddy of mine plays and it seems as though he knows someone who said something about you.
As for rental guns bring them on out because my dad may be in town for easter and I would love to drag his ass along. More details to follow.
I will also be getting 3-5 of those 5 gallon jugs from work on saturday and messing around to figure out the best way to get them to glow bright enough to be seen from a distance as well as how much water we can put in them without risking injuries. I don't want someone to break their foot because some one dropped somewhere around 41.72702243646647 pounds of water on it, and at the same time it should take some effort to carry them.

Just an FYI to everyone planning on attending a night game, the games don't move like everyone would expect. Night games move very very slow! I've played games where Team RATS was on the other side of the road (less than 15 feet away) and everyone just stayed still the entire time (both teams didn't move for 2 hours).
And note, engagement limits are DIFFUCULT to judge. Typically you can't see no more than 20-30 feet in front of you. So, ask youself...want to get shoot by a newbie sniper @ 480fps at 25 feet away? Distances are hard to judge at night!!!
I recommend a day game, rather than a night game.

Just to chime in on that note, whoever is hosting, you might want to limit all guns to 400 or 410 FPS maximum and not allow sniper rifles on the field at all. Unless somebody has a night vision scope (doubtful) or it's a full moon out, nobody is taking shots at more than 50-75 feet away no matter what. It just becomes sort of pointless to have those guns on the field, and the risk of injury goes way up.

Funny you should mention it Knief.... Dexter, from our team is our low-light sniper. Yes sir, He uses a night vision scope! He will be shooting at 410- 418fps with his m16a4 fitted with a Russian IR scope. A few of our other guys may be using night vision systems on their sniper rifles also... I may break out one myself just for giggles...
You know Skypilot, it has been my experience with GI's that if you want people to move, you need to give them a reason, such as objectives and or incentives. If it is made very clear that one team is on defense, and that the other team must attack, it should also be clearly stated in the mission briefing that the attacking side will be scored as defeated if the objective(s) is not secured within the time limit. Since we are using tiki torches and there will also be very good illumination, unless the moon is covered, The only safe havens will be structures or bunkers. Shadows will be moot, and a single night vision unit, which I will bring, may be made available to the other team if need be, to assist with game balance. Having surveyed the landscape and walked the grounds, I can safely say that this will make for a very intense game provided that the weather doesn't absolutely suck. For the sake of argument, I have to concur that if both teams sit and "camp" the game would blow, and would fail miserably, therefore for my two cents worth, The games should be kept to objective based games.

I agree. But as for the FPS regulation, it should be a very bright night. I'm going to allow all weapons as long as they are used responsibly and fairly. I too will be using an IR unit.

The night games I have played in the past have been very slow moving, I however enjoy the game play because it focuses more on stealth and movement and less on shooting each other. I like it. I'm hoping that with the rather large moon and well lite area that there is a good mix of stealth and combat. Well determined objectives will also be nice.

I'll be proposing a game that I've learned before as an exercise in leadership. Each team will have two officers wearing hunting vests. Each team must obey their officer's every command. The objective is to eliminate the opposing officers while protecting yours. Subordinates can re-spawn, but officers cannot. I think this would be a great game at night. Fun, challenging yet simple, and can be very quick paced. EDIT: When you arrive, please realize that there are wild life and natural vegetation here. If you see an animal, please walk the other way and inform others. If you are hit because of this, it will not count against you. If you are followed by any animal or feel threatened, feel free to light the sucker up, but have an excuse ready as to why you did so. Natural vegetation can be dangerous. This picture was taken by me on my phone last weekend. Please be aware I suggest that if you feel you were exposed to a dangerous plant, when you get home take a shower and wash the cloths you were wearing. If you want any information on poison ivy or other dangerous plants that may be present, I have provided a link. poisonivy.aesir.com/viewI've never had much of a problem of any kind with flora or fauna there, but please be aware that dangers do exist.
