If you have a high power rifle, it is very easy for the freezing temperatures to throw your hopup bucking out of whack. I am pretty sure most lubricants freeze as well.

I would think most lubricants would have a below freezing temperature so long as they are not water-based. For example, silicone maintains the same consistency from -100 to 250 C.

Yes, most synthetic lubricants can handle low temperatures. Since most natural lubricants (i.e. oil) break down rubber seals and parts, they are not really recommended for use in Airsoft weapons. Now your hopup is another story.
