Super great game, My gun finally did not break down on me. The turnout was very good. I like this field better then any of the other ons that I have been to in Michigan.
as for a field suggestion how about big hills that kinda form trenches (but above ground level)

I also had a blast yesterday. Thanks for everyone being friendly and helping me learn the ropes since it was my first game.
I think the best game was when we played with the c4 and mortars. When the tan team was on the attack side, we did get pinned up in the middle from the lack of cover, but boy that last minute rush was intense.
Now I just need to get into better shape since I got so sore towards the end, I could barely run, specially during the VIP game. I haven't done any intense activities in a long time, so my body took quite a toll.

Arc, Knief, congratulations, from the sound of it you are both successful event hosters.
I personally had a blast, I loved the first faux urban field we played on. Also, Anthrax Island is a downright amazing field for pistols rifles or whatever. Also if Brian (I think, the owner anyway) is involving us, the community as a whole in the development of the new field then I think this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

The best thing about earthworks is that the materials are free.

I agree about the earthworks. It might be a pain at first but the only cost is the rental of a bobcat.

Yeah I'd have to say that I prefer fields that use terrain (provided by man or divine powers) as cover instead of crappy plywood buildings, although I love the latter tons still. I think that's why I prefer that one long grassed narrow field to the others, it was basically just crawling through the brush. Something like rice paddies (without the water) or hedgerows (circa WW2 France) would be sweet. For the bocage-like hedgerow, I know it would be a lot of work, but here's a little diagram to help. Naturally we'd have to make it a little smaller since these are pretty massive.

Yes exactly what I was thinking, dirt walls above ground to prevent the flooding.

I had a blast. It's good to be back and playing again, now I can't wait for the next one. I've had great times at events run by Knief and Semia so I was eager to show up and I wasn't disappointed. Guys like M.S. Arc and Knief have tons of experience to run larger scale games like these very smoothly.
There were indeed some bottlenecks in that field, though. I would love to have a game at this field in which we used the whole field. Possibly sometime when it gets colder so there aren't scheduling conflicts with the paintballers. Although if we had enough people on roster I think he'd just give us the field for the day. Just something to think about.
I liked the first games like everyone else has said. But my favourite part was the long crawl in the tall grass Livonia and I took, apologies again to the guy we ran into(he had the upgraded JG SPR); He caught a couple in the face. In close second are the pistol matches at the island, those were good fun.

Yeah, I guess the trenches would flood. The above-ground hills/berms sound like a better idea. Although you could just cover the bottom & sides of the trench with plywood and pile up sandbags 1 foot around the edges of the trench. Then slope it in one direction so water can drain. That plan prevents flooding from rain and groundwater, but it doesn't sound like an economical idea.

Like most forums, we use UBBC here instead of HTML. It's a little more idiot proof than html. Run a google search and you'll find long lists of available tags.
I'm glad everybody enjoyed this game. I had a great time hosting it, and I'm looking forward to the next one. Keep the ideas and suggestions coming, both for game play and the the field. I forgot about our time restraints, so we didn't end up playing on the last brush field as much as I had planned. Next time, we'll make sure to get out there earlier. If you're not afraid of mosquito hell, there is another true woodland field on the property as well. We could give that a shot, too.
Next time, I'll be sure to bring my boots.

This event was really fun, even though my cousin lost my pistol (twice, but I got it back and it's in my bag). The bug bites weren't that bad for me, only 4 showed up or itched. Some random guy took a picture of me with a disposable camera (I guess he liked my loadout), but I don't have his contact info or anything.
The first field was the best IMO. The problem I had with the Castle was, if the attacking team bunched up to one entrance it turned into a camp-fest. Whenever a defender (like me) would stick my head out to see where they were we'd take a hit. The Island needs some diversity.
I love the buildings on the first field we played and personally think a small "town" between the urban area and Anthrax island would be great, especially for VIP, convoy, attack/defend games. It could be like Carentan, through a field, through the gates of the town, to the objective (Castle). Also Push/Capture scenarios could be done through the flow of the three areas.
That of course would be an expensive option (with all the wood and time), but would really make the park stand out. I would have the earthworks more near the urban area and have the town nearer to the island. There is quite a bit of area between those two fields. Also in-ground bunkers are relatively cheap and easy to make, simply dig a hole and reinforce with some wood.
Some of the best fun I had while defending the mortars was suppressing the sniper's nest from the "house", and the buildings gave both of our forces a fighting chance.
