You're not 101st. You did not earn that title, you did not earn Airborne. You did not fight with the 506th.

It's a recreation unit made to reanact WWII battles. The reason it exists is because we respect, and look up to them. If thsi one unit is disrespectful then so are rest of the recreation battles and units that exist. Any unit based on a real one would be disrespectful when the only reason they exist is because people think the units are cool.

That's not the problem. Anyone can reenact scenarios, hell airsoft itself is reenactment. The problem is that you specifically call yourselves the 101st and wear 101st insignia. Call yourselves WWII Airborne Reenactors or something like that, but don't identify yourselves by the label of paratroopers who fought and died over 60 years ago.

I don't think that any of the members of the 101st would have a problem with your team. I see guys reenacting the 10th Mountain all the time, and I definitely don't think that i'm being disrespected. I think it's a little silly that someone would want to pretend to be me or someone like me, but to each their own. Just don't go pinning awards to your chest beyond what you need to make a decent reenactment. That's just illegal.

Re-enacting a unit like the 101st isn't disrespectful if they are portraying the men of that unit in an honorable and heroic light. Now if they were all being asshats and doing stupid, disgraceful things, then that would be different. The way I see it, they're commemorating the fighting spirit of these men that fought and bled and died for this country. It's no more disrespectful than someone who re-enacts a Civil War battle, or the Hamilton-Burr duel. It's a tribute to the past, and should be seen as such so long as it is done with respect, honor and reverence to the men they are attempting to portray. Whew! There, I'm done with my rant now.

Hey, I am a retired paratrooper from the 82nd Airborne Division and I go and watch as well as take part in re-enactments of past battles and I have no problem with it. If they want to call themselves the 101st, thats fine with me. It is just an airsoft game. As long as they do not do two things. Tell people the are from the real 101st unless some one on their team is. Treat that name with true honor and respect those men and the men who serve in todays 101st. Oh, and one more thing. Kick the enemys A**. AIRBORNE LEAD THE WAY!

Jump, Not to rain on your parade, but that account was created to say that one paragraph. Most likely by swiftkill or one of his 101st re-enactment buddies. (that, or you caught on to the same thing I did and thats why you bombarded him with things he wouldnt know.)

Well the wierd thing is his profile says he's 28, yet he retired from the Army. 28 minus 20 years means he enlisted when he was 8. Unless he was medically retired, but people don't say they retired when they were released from service.
