In short, the people who have the wherewithal to attend an event so far away often have better things to do. It costs a lot of money to drove to Kentucky, for one. Plus, an attendee from somewhere as far away as Michigan would likely want to get a hotel room. That puts it beyond the reach of most of the younger and more casual players: why spend so much when you can organize or attend a game closer to home.
Those who have more income often have an even greater opportunity cost. Spending time with the kids, or the wife, or the girlfriend, or picking up extra hours at work will often overrule a grueling road trip three or four states away for a weekend of fun and games.
That, and you posted this thread in the wrong section of the boards - a likely reason for the lack of posts.

There's definitely some interest from Team Socom. We've been discussing this one for a while. Expensive and far away though. Like Enki said- that usually drops most the guys.

We (GK) have been to a number of big games in Ohio over the past few years, but enkidu is right: both the monetary and opportunity costs add up. I'd love to go to Irene III as it's taking place at the Fort Knox MOUT site. But registration was closed before I could even verify my schedule that far in advance, so there you have it.

I'm waitlisted as well. If I get a spot, maybe we can carpool.

Personally, I've got much, much better things to do with large amounts of my money than giving it to John Lu, a hotel, and the gas stations...especially for an event of the quality that my one previous John Lu experience demonstrated.

well i am sorry for you terrible expierence. i guess that it is now my personal mission to go and expeirence it for my self and change the way these national airsoft events are run. maybe after some intervention we can get things to run a little bit more like the kind of large scale, strict military recreations we held in our back yards. this thread was started so that anyone from michigan that was planning on attending might be able to catch a ride or share equiptment, not to take childish, and opionated stabbs at those attending or those hosting. good luck with your much better things.
