We are always looking to add good players to the team!
SOCOM is a part of the MICHIGAN AIRSOFT CORPS (M.A.C.) Together SOCOM, RAT PACK, and DEFCON make up the alliance that constitutes M.A.C. They’re three separate teams with three separate team leaders, but we frequently work together on and off the airsoft field as one large team.
The MICHIGAN AIRSOFT CORPS holds the distinction of being the overall winner of the 2005 Geist Kompanie C.Q.B. Challenge.
Being an active team, M.A.C. has traveled as far as Madison Wisconsin, Cleveland Ohio, and Gaylord Michigan to play.
SOCOM is mainly based on the mid-west side of the state. Most of our players live near Holland and Grand Rapids. However, your personal location means very little if you have the means and motivation to make the occasional long trip to get in a game!
SOCOM pursues a moderate level of realism in airsoft. We do not try to emulate the military look down to the last correct detail. "Relaxed" would be the best way to describe our collective attitude. If you consider yourself "HARD CORE!" then you might want to consider joining a different team that matches your stricter focus on realism.
There are some minimum requirements you must meet before you will be considered for our team-
1. Maturity level is an important determining factor in your potential recruitment. Our current minimum age limit is 18, but we have been known to make exceptions for mature persons under 18.
2. You must own an AEG and all the respective equipment required in making yourself a reliable asset to the rest of the team during a typical skirmish. (1 large battery or a pair of mini's and a quick charger, and a hi-cap magazine or a number of standards would be minimal to keep you in play.....)
3. Your goggles must be able to meet the standards set within Article 3 of the Rules for Michigan Airsoft Players.
miairsoft.proboards2.com/index.cgi?board=r-n-r&action=display&thread=1055191860They must also be reasonably effective in preventing fogging under all playing conditions.
4. You must own a minimum of 1 set of Woodland or Marpat pattern BDU's. Our official team uniform is Woodland pattern, and you would be expected to purchase them shortly after joining if you do not already possess them.
5. You must have a means of purchasing further equipment and uniforms in time.
6. In the interests of maintaining our stellar reputation as one of the premier airsoft teams in Michigan you will be required to demonstrate reasonable competency on the playing field. No experience is required, but it certainly wouldn't hurt! Even a little paintball experience is helpful. If you have no experience and really want to join, we can work around that too. Proper attitude, the ability to listen to suggestions, and a strong desire to be on the team are major assets. However, don't expect to earn the SOCOM patch right away. When you wear the SOCOM patch you are a representative of the team and we have a reputation to uphold!
Please contact the SOCOM team leader if you are interested in joining-
