What was the base color, I was thinking about getting the OD one when i want an m14, but i wasnt sure how paint would stick to the "sticl/rubbery" coating thatr is supposed to be on it.

Yeah, it's a wood stock version. I knew I was going to paint it right away (I painted it within 5 minutes of getting it). I held a OD version and I personally don't think the paint will stick to good to it.
