Nothing special here, I think everyones got a silver slided Glock now days I've had it for a while but I'd never found a good way to remove the orange without sanding and scraping which makes the guns look like shit. Never been a fan of using a black sharpies or paint for touch up. I remembered a paint stripper I used on some car parts a few years ago so I tracked down a can at my local Meijers and these are my results with only 10 minutes of hands free work: Basically, I stripped the side down, applied the stripper with a paint brush and let it sit for about 10 minutes then rinsed it off with hot soapy water. No scraping, no sanding or anything. Gets all the coating out of those hard to reach spots on the slide, even the inside of the slide. The metal has a very unmolested satin color to it. I think I'm going to have it professionally polished at my friends shop. They do valve covers for my drag cars and they turn out looking like polished chrome. Looks a hell of a lot better then the Glock 18C I sanded down then wet sanded and hand polished and I haven't even started to do any finishing work yet. Once I get it looking the way I want it, I'm going to do some mild internal upgrades.

What's the stripper that you used? I tried something (I don't remember what, and the can is at my house while I am at my dorm) out on my KJW para's slide and it was a bitch to get the paint off, even after it sat for a while. I want to clean up some bits of black that wouldn't come off of the slide, and do the entire frame as well.

I want to clean up some bits of black that wouldn't come off of the slide, and do the entire frame as well. Zip Strip... $6.99 at Meijers. The shit rocks. The paint bubbles right up but you need to let it sit for a while on the orange because most orange isn't normal paint, its powder coating or a special plastic polymer paint that bonds. I love this stuff because you don't have to scrape, sand, or anything. The stuff sticks pretty well. It almost looks like snot or slime when it comes out of the can. As you can see, all the paint is out of the shell extractor area, grooves in the slide, etc.. Something you just can't get to with sand paper. Plus sandpaper sucks because you have to wet sand the piss out of the slides to get rid of all the damn scratches you get with sand paper. Don't quote me on this but I think it might be plastic safe. I've used it with plastic paint brushes, tooth brushes, put it in plastic bowls and it's never dis-formed the plastic or left a funny texture. I have some orange on my Marui P226 still, I'll guinea pig my plastic slide tonight and post the results. I plan to get a full metal body kit anyway. looks good. i would paint the shell extractor black though. I actually like the silver look, always have. For Glocks, its something custom. Although for playing airsoft they kinda of stick out in a game. I already planned to buy a KSC metal slide kit or something along those lines to use when I play in games. All black and full trademarks is how I like all my guns. I'm almost anal about trademarks.

Ive always been a fan of silver slides, you can tell yours was done right because there is no black left in the grip at the rear of the slide. Looks good. One thing i would like to see on a glock is a black slide, silver frame with black removable "tacmaster" style grips and for the hell of it, a red trigger.

Don't quote me on this but I think it might be plastic safe. I've used it with plastic tooth brushes... Why! O the humanity... Glock is looking very nice, btw.

Nice double moniters . I watch movies on one well I serf on the other They don't exactly match but screw it, they work. That Glock is sweet...you need two though, John Woo style Meet the twins, they are both 18, ones a little sexy, ones a little sassy As you can see, the silver 18C was sanded so there is still some black around the shell extractor. We need to take some stripper to that area of the 18C. Don't quote me on this but I think it might be plastic safe. I've used it with plastic tooth brushes... Why! O the humanity... Glock is looking very nice, btw. Which reminds me. This stuff is NOT human Toothbrush safe I got some on my skin and let me tell you it burns. I just happened to have a box of laytex gloves so I put those on, nope didn't help. Even though the stuff did not melt the gloves or get past them it still burns like a bitch. Whatever this stripper is, it has some reaction outside the can and gets chemically hot.

If it's anything like the stripper that I used, it evaporates rapidly once you break the surface tension. If you happen to get some on your skin, you can rub it a little and it will be gone. I found this out before I had the bright idea to get my rubber gloves. Next time I'll just use the gloves.

This stuff is NOT!!!! plastic safe I went to take that orange off my Marui P226 slide, when I was prep'ing to slack the shit on I had a single drop land on the slide and I wiped it off 2 seconds later and the stuff I wiped off was like black paint. It ate the slide that fast. Metal slides only guys

Kinda hard to tell from this picture but I just finished polishing the slide. Poor lighting when I took the picture though and the flash didn't help. You can see your reflection in the finish. I think I might pull it back apart and give it another round on the polishing wheel.

Did you leave thetop of the slide matt finish? I read some place that its a good idea to leave the top of the slide matt so you dont get glare.

Nope, I polished the shit out of the whole slide.
I'm buying another KSC metal slide with trades for when I play, this is more for show then anything.
I was just playing around with it because it had no trades and I wanted to get rid of the orange without having it look all scratched to shit.

How did you go about polishing that bad boy? I just did my KJW para (I want to do the frame next, but that might have to wait until summer). I stripped the paint a couple months ago, and then just wet sanded with nothing but 600 grit for a few hours and it left me with a nice brushed finish (I don't want a mirror slide). I ended up with a little streaking (although it's even across the gun since I only used 1 grit of paper, so I'm not sure if I dislike it or not). I'll try to get some pictures up this weekend if I wake up early enough for good morning lighting to come into my house.
