I was just wondering if anyone else had heard of ABU, apparently it was tested and patented by the US Air Force. I thought it looked kind of cool. Heres the link to the store i found it at. www.vtarmynavy.com/Shot at 2007-06-27 Shot at 2007-06-27 Shot at 2007-06-27

Looks like a slightly newer tiger stripe pattern to me. Never heard of it. But hey, Everyone else is getting thier own Camo pattern, why not the USAF.

They've been testing that for awhile now. I saw a poster at Selfridge just the other day detailing proper wear for it. I haven't seen it in person, but it does look extra spiffy.
Oh and I forgot that the boots on the poster were Foliage green leather....pretty funky looking.

Tiger Stripe is great camo, it's big downfall is there is so much black in the pattern which shows up extremely bright in NVGs, this pattern seems to fix that issue.
Airforce is much more than airplanes, any of you haters need to check out the pararescue and the combat controllers. When you are bored as a seal and need a new challenge, head to the pararescue!

I have never heard about tiger stripe being a great camouflage.

It works OK in some circumstances. I used to wear it paintballing and I found that I could hide more effectively in thick ferns than people wearing woodland could. I think that's because the pattern is a little finer and doesn't blob out the way woodland sometimes does.

Still anything with stripes is automatically polarized and if your the opposite way of the shadows you will be easy pickens'.

The Air Force is using this primarily as a work uniform instead of camo. I've seen pictures of this pattern before, but the cloth was blue instead of a true camouflage scheme, probably to set the AF apart from other branches.

Where did you hear that they will be using it as a work uniform and not camo?

Because 99% of the Airforce doesn't have a practical reason for camoflauge. I have a lot of good friends that are combat controllers, and they are pretty much Army guys with Airforce rank. They wear our uniforms with our patches. If you were meshed with an Infantry Platoon would you want to be the one guy in Woodland when everybody else is in ACU? Or in this pattern?

I'd think that the one guy in a different uniform is always carrying a "shoot me first!" sign.
