ok im tryin to find the best deal i can on a m16a2 upgraded to 400 fps...Airsoftshop.com has some good upgrades but since im a newb to aeg's i dont really know what upgrade plan to get....i know you only need a spring and metal bushings to get to 400 fps but what do all the other upgrades do? (like piston heads, spring guides, ect) im lookin to get a good durable 400 fps upgrade and would like insight on what upgrades to get done to it (m16a2 which i still have to buy somewhere most likely from same place as i get upgrades done by) thanx for all the insight

Start off with a stock gun, play for a few months, then decide what/if you want to upgrade. Best advice I can give you.

indeed.
Play with your gun for few months to see what you want to upgrade it for.
You may love being in the front right on top of the enemy, so you will want to upgrade for ROF rather than range. You may like sitting in the back and taking a few well placed shots, so you'll want to upgrade for range. See what you want, then worry about upgrades.
Now, you say that you're a newbie to AEGs, so I'm assuming that this is your first (and probably only AEG for a while). What happens when it fails the week before the big event you wanted to go to. You won't have a skirmish capable gun to use. Upgraded AEGs are MUCH more likely to break than stock guns. If not only for the added stress of the higher tension spring, but for the simple fact that you've disturbed the equilibrium already achieved within in the gun. You've removed some grease, nudged a gear or two. Any time you open up your mechbox, you're disturbing it.
Also, if it does break, you could be out for weeks, if not months while you figure out how to fix it.
That's just not something you'll want to deal with. Stick with a stock gun right now and be satisfied. You don't need upgrades to compete. You can more craftily to make up for the extra range you gain with an ungraded gun.
