Hey,
I am purchasing an AEG soon and I am wondering what the best way to make it quiet is. I plan to upgrade it to 350 FPS with metal gears bushings and a tightbore barrel. I also intend to utilize a silencer WITHOUT extending the barrel into it.
At a game yesterday, me and JDL put an MP5 silencer on his stock G36C and it was pretty hard to hear. We also tried the Marui KAC silencer, which did almost nothing to dampen the sound.
My questions are the following:
1) Do you guys know of any silencers which are not only effective at dampening sound, but also would not look out of place on a G36C (kinda puts MP5 silencers out of the question)?
2) Are there any gun parts for an armalite or a G36C which would reduce noise?
Thanks,
Chuck

I think any silencer except a SOCOM or M4 KAC type would look good on a G36c. Especially an M11, with the slightly fatter back end. But, I don't have any experience with silencers that could actually muffle sound except for the TM and KSC SOCOM types.

Thanks, for the info so far, I looked into the piston heads and what I'm finding is a choice of polycarbonate, aluminum, or silicone piston heads. Obviously the aluminum is lout, but are ether of the other two particularly soft? I only looked at systema. Perhaps another company makes a head spesifically designed to be quiet?
Also, might any other gearbox parts (cylinder?) add to the effect?
Lastly, anything you guys know of that could reduce or eliminate engine noise?
Thanks,
Chuck

i've heard of people using Dynamat around their gearboxes/motors.
i'd be careful with that, though...dynamat holds heat in...so around the motor could be very bad.

Well, I found a specifically 'silent piston head,' and I found something that should reduce motor noise, though I'm not sure which guns it works on, but I still need some info on silencers.
Anybody have experience in the matter?
Thanks,
Chuck
