There is ONE difference between the two, length. the M16 has longer effective range, the M4 has better mobility. The choice is yours.

EXACTLY 25.4 FEET !! but all kidding aside no one can answer this question because each gun is a little different and the weather conditions also play a factor. It's all personal preference when it comes to which gun to get

MY guess is that it's much more than 70ft, I know you may think 70ft is a lot, but in actuality i think i got the UHC M92F Springer I borrowed to go at least 60ft, so I'd say your looking at close to 90-100ft for range, especially if you know how to arc it, then you can get some goodness out of that. Just my 2 cents, although I am rather new to airsoft I know that the guns dont shoot just 23 yards, if anyone who knows more cares to input, please do so.

My 2 cents is that this is a mil sim, and soldiers dont arc rounds on targets unless its a mortor, gernade or a cannon. Don't arc when you play at events, otherwise your going to have a lot of pissed off players. Oh yeah, and stock guns have low accuarcy. Usually 70-100 ft is all they are good for when you first get them.

Hey i have a TM M-4 and i love it, now i am a big guy {six three} but the m-4 is agreat size and easly movable, i am able to run circles around my friend with his SG-1 and mine is just about as accurate as his with stock sights. i would suggest the M-4 but it does have 1 draw back, small battery but that can be fixed with a bat bag or a rail mounted bat holder so it is really a throw up.
On another note if you want a comprimise between the 2 you could get a SR-16

Yeah, arcing your shots (With Snip's caveats in mind) is really, really cheap, in my opinion. Go play paintball if that's the style you're after. Milsim and Tacsim isn't the place for it.
And to add to Toothbrush's, I have an SR-16 and am also a large fella (6'5") and I think the size is great. I mean, hell, I use a G36C with the stock folded for CQB and both guns are really nice to hold. The SR-16's big battery was what convinced me to take it over the M4A1.

Hey, I haven't been on lately. My 2 cents, get Marui's new M733. Very beautiful gun and cheaper than M4 and M16. Plus it just looks bad ass. Im getting one soon.
