the famas like any tokyo marui AEG can't be used for long sustained bursts of fire it will destroy the gear box. if this is what he meant by light machine gun then no I wouldn't sujest the famas or any aeg made by tokyo marui or classic army, ICS, or acadamy for that matter ( well I wouldn't sujest the last 3 for any thing actualy I have nothing else to say )

I'll clarify a bit. Tokyo Marui mechboxes aren't designed to be used with long sustained bursts of full auto fire. That action will wera them down and they'll fail prematurely. If that's what you had in mind, then un fourtunately no, a stock FAMAS won't work very well as a LMG. This is one area in which the TOP "bellows" system excells. It can be fired for thousands of rounds in a row (emptying the entire bb reservoir, if that's your thing) and it won't cause any more wear than firing those thousands of rounds on semi auto. If you need a light machine gun that you can fire for long bursts on full auto, then you'll need a TOP M60 (I believe the TOP M249 doesn't use the bellows system and is not fit for sustained fire either, but i'm not sure on this one).

As an AEG though, I was pretty impressed with the FAMAS (got to use Harley's for a day). Once I got over the fact that the FAMAS aint such a looker (although Harleys paint job helps ), I found that is had many practical qualities (for lack of a better word), such as the built is bipod, a good safety system, and large battery in the foregrip. Plus, the FAMAS is one of the less expensive AEG's and you dont see to many of them around (or atleast I havent). Although how much light machine gunning can you do withought dropping atleast $600 for a 60. Or your "friend" can get a P-90 with box mag ;D.

right, i forgot to mention that. As an AEG, it's one hell of a good gun (we're talking TM here), just not so great for your intended purpose.

Ah yes Tom. Thanks fro bringing up the P90. Yes, I have a P90, and yes, it has a box mag. It owns anything that it comes across, as long as you give it a good 3 second burst... ;D

Oh yeah, of course it has to be TM. I've kinda been thinking about it (I'm really bored), and with the FAMAS' high rate of fire (arguably the highest of a stock AEG) it may not be able to sustain prolonged bursts, but it can put out a lot of bb's in a short amount of time. With the Bipod, its rof, and plenty of high caps, it is probably as close to an LMG you can find without dropping a few hundred dollars. Your friend should check out Arnie's review ( www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/main/main.htm ) of the TM FAMAS F1, it should answer his question.
