Okay, I'm looking at picking up either an M4A1 RIS or an SR-16 and fitting it with RIS foregrips. But I have a dilemma: battery space.
The M4A1 RIS has the external battery pack mounted in the faux "laser sight" on the foregrip. The SR-16 mounts it in the buttstock (IMHO a much better place for it). But I'd like to have a tubular collapsing stock (a la M4A1), but have RIS forward grips (for all my Piccatinny-compatible goodies) and not have to dick around with an external battery. Yeah, that's right, I want to have my cake and eat it too.
So I guess my question is, why hasn't anybody figured out how to put a battery in a tubular collapsing stock yet? Or have they, and I just haven't heard about it? Any body have any info or ideas?

I haven't heard of anyone being able to shove a battery into a collapsing stock yet, but you may want to check the forums at AirsoftPlayers.com and AirsoftOhio.com just to make sure. It sounds to me as if you think the SR-16 doesn't have RIS rails on the foregrip, which it does. Or am I just reading your post wrong?

...because the "tube" is extremely narrow.
I'm a little confused about your statement of "fitting RIS foregrips" onto the M4RIS or SR16. Those are the two guns with the the RIS system already in place. Please explain.
You could try for the ICS PEQ-2 faux laser system, which is a lot bigger than the Marui unit and also holds much larger batteries and would mount just like the Marui one.
Good luck.
EDIT: I have heard of people putting the batteries in that tube, though...now that I think about it. The only problem is that you'd have to do a fair bit of drilling to get it to work.

No, I get that they both have RIS forward grips, but one has a collapsible stock and the other doesn't. I much prefer the collapsible stock, but probably not at the expense of having a big ol' hunk o' batteries hanging off the front of the gun. Especially not if I have a tactical light or a real laser sight hanging off the front of the thing.

I think you're going to have to just compromise and either go for looks or functionality. You can get good batteries inside of the grip of the M4A1 (Hell, even inside the foregrip of a G36c), but if the weight distrubition is the problem, that kinda narrows you down some.

I think that if you went with a AK battery you should be able to put it in a collapsable stock. But your going to have to do some re wiring.
