I noticed basically every brand besides Tokyo Marui are all metal... Why doesn't TM start to make their guns all metal? I don't know about you but I'd be willing to fork over a few more bucks for a more sturdy, realistic, and reliable gun. What is your opinion of airsoft elite? I want a MP5-SD6 for CQB, but want a metal body and don't want to worry about having upgrading.

My question to you is... Why should metal be important? It'll make your gun louder (Sound moves through metal easier than plastic), heavier, and will add a lot more than 'a few bucks' to the cost. Plus, in some cases, plastic is realistic (M16 and G36 being what I'm thinking of here).
I guess it'd be cool for some guns, but I think the reason TM isn't doing it is so their production costs are kept down.

the guns are loud as it is and not enough of an issue to stop me from buying a metal body. Also, as with my M4 the metal body would probably help from barrel wobble, and the FAMAS's plasticy feel, and SIGs body flex are also a good point. I DO believe that if the real steel is ABS (ie Steyr) than it shouldn't be done so... but airsoft strives for realism.

I do beleive Jacko hit it on the Head. Cost affectiveness due to their plastic recievers they can offer a cheaper product with better (in my opinion) internals. if you wnat the metal feel you can always buy a metal body. I understand how you feel metal is always nice but Money runs the world

TMs dun come with metal and all that bs for the same reason cars usually dun come with rims, nice cd decks, flashy shit, ghetto lights and such.

huh? are you saying that Tokyo Marui is the Oldsmobile of the airsoft world. Then what is the Jaguar equivalent that makes fine quality stock guns (notice i didn't say BMW or Peugot... U.N. American)
I realize I could fork over $800 and buy a Red Wolf Assassin (which if you haven't seen go check out!), but I just want a stock gun that is all metal!

tokyo marui is the best stock gun as far as internals go and thats what should be most important to you. If you want cosmetic parts such as a metal body you can buy them. now if you want to go with a "pretty metal outside " and "bad internals" (this is only my opinion, they may be great internals but I have heard they have durability issues ) then go with ICS or Classic army

as has been stated before, TM's aren't the 'oldsmobiles' of airsoft... they're more the Toyota's. decently made, relitively cheap.
i'd classify Classic army as a KIA... cheaper than a toyota, cheaper quality.
TOP, i'd say is more of a mitsubishi. same quality as TM, higher price.
right now, there aren't any really 'well made' mass produced airsoft guns. in stock form, you're getting a cheaply made weapon prone to breakage. thems the breaks.
just FYI, guys... TM rates their gearboxes for '90,000' rounds that's 25 bags of BB's or so....less if you upgrade the internals. i've had less...my G3's first gearbox shreded after less than 15,000 rounds...that's when i got the upgraded gears/piston/spring/bushings.
but even so...the gearbox frame can only take so much abuse before it cracks and destoys itself as well.
we're buying weapons that will break in a short amount of time...just remember that. Airsoft is an expensive sport...so be prepared for those gears to shred, that cocking tube to snap, that feed nozzle to crack, those gears to shred, that battery to blow...

I have nothing else to say that's reassuring? What is your opinion on ICS and their Airsoft Elite line up. They seem promising... could I fill them with TM internals if the stock ones fail?

yes you can, and if you have to replace everything (which you very well may), it'll be a similar cost. But then, cracking open the gearbox and tweaking stuff is MUCH more challenging, and MUCH less forgiving than installing a metal body. So if the costs are identical, you want what you have the least work to do on, which is installing a metal body.
