I might become the Radio Telephone Operator for my team and I was wondering what a good radio to upgrade is. I'm looking for a two-pronged jack radio because I want to either get the Devgru Frogman headset www.airsoftextreme.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=254_523&products_id=2953 or the cheaper Toto II which I saw on Redwolf www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/ProductDetail?prodID=21820Does anyone have experiences with these or with headsets similar to them? Any feedback would be appreciated. Now for radios I think I want to stick with Motorola. Just looking for something that has less of a toy-like feel and for under $200. Right now I'm running the Motorola Talkabout T5410. If there are any other suggestions of radios go ahead and let me know. That's all I have for now, any input helps!

Most Motorolas use a 1-pin jack these days, so you're contradicting yourself there.

Embed, I was interested in both the same headsets you showed, and a motorola talkabout. (Its actually getting creepy how many times our interests run into each other's)
Anyways, there is an adapter, on both redwolf, and Airsoft extreme, for like 20 bucks, that allows the usage of the Devrgu Frogman with a Motorola. As for the Toto II, I couldn't find anything that worked for it.

I can't say enough good things about ICOM radios, they have a two prong set up but I don't know if they are compatible with those headsets.

I loves me my Icom IC F-21GM. If you buy one, be sure to buy a bigger battery or limit your transmit power. Also, if you didn't already read it, I unsurprisingly recommend reading my radio infosheet.

Thanks a ton, guys. That has helped. Is there any one (or two) radios that are the gold standard for FRS? I went to Spyops yesterday and asked about UHF radios. I got the gist that it's more efficient for all of your teammates to have UHF radios rather than just one. So it's superfluous to want a UHF radio? Then I suppose I'll look for a very nice FRS radio. Anyone got somethin' for me? Which Motorolas do have dual pins? They only offer a Kenwood and Motorola fitment (both two-prong) www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/ProductDetail?prodID=21820I guess what I'm trying to say now is what's the best FRS/GMRS radio out there?

I too have the ICOM F21-GM and it sounds like it would fit your needs. It's a variable power, programable FRS/GMRS radio.

Does it have a one or two-pronged headset jack? Also, are there subchannels on this radio? They're just programmed in, right? Did yours come with the large antenna pictured here? www.universal-radio.com/catalog/frs/1606.html

You need to program the frs stations which takes some time but is easy. Mine came with the long ant. but I bought a stubby one to put on it, I also bout a NiMH extra life battery on ebay which I would reccommend as well.

I cannot emphasize this strongly enough: "subchannels" are dumb.

That's a programmable business class radio, not a GMRS radio, and using it without a license for the frequencies it's on is an FCC violation. Unless you are prepared to arrange for a license, do not use that radio. Any discussion of using it without a license on this board will be deleted at once.

FYI, using a radio not certified for FRS or GMRS use by the FCC on those bands is also an FCC violation and we will not tolerate discussion of it on these forums.
