So, as some of you may now, I've been looking to invest in a high end sniper package. I've decided on an SVD kit, as I just love the look of the weapon and if I'm going to spend a grand on a gun, it may as well be mostly made from real wood and metal.
So, here's the plan:
Guarder SVD kit $348 DTP Metal Body $80 Systema 6.04mm barrel $24.50 WGC Advanced Uprade III $205 Includes - PDI or Systema Spring - Fuse removal ( Reduce resistance ) - Systema metal bushings - Systema torque up gear set - Systema Aluminium piston head with bearing - Systema poly carbonate / aluminium piston - Systema spring guide with bearing - Installation 10.8v 2100mah batt $37 TM Ak 47(s) $213
Total: $907.50
Now, my query to you is two parts:
What am I missing? What would you replace or use? Looks good?
And the second part is to you retailers. I priced this out at WGC, obviously, so that doesn't include shipping. Can anybody beat those prices? I'll be ordering the entire gun at once from WGC so they can upgrade and save myself shipping costs, but I'm interested to know if I could get a Real Wood/Metal SVD from a US supplier for roughly $900-950. ;D
Thanks in advance!

I'm not going to spend the $200 they want at WGC for their PSO-1 scope. I've found a genuine 4x24 one for $75 elsewhere. The battery is going in a bag on the stock (A magazine pouch) and I'll try to trade the clip I get with the Ak for a Beta hi-cap. If I need more than 1 hi-cap, I'M THE WORST SHOT IN THE WORLD.

Check out UNcompany.com Jacko. They usually have the lowest HK prices (aside from Guns N Guys, but GnG only takes wire transfers), and offer a discount of 3% if you pay with Paypal. 3% could be nice coming off of a $1000 purchase.
Otherwise, I'd say get the upgrade parts with the gun and do it yourself. I don't trust the big HK guys to do a quality job (even though they might), and would rather save the money and do it myself, the right way. The AK is quite easy to work on, in fact I just upgraded mine a couple months ago and had no problems. Don't fear the mechbox! ;D
*edit* Forgot to ask, what FPS are you aiming for?

I'm aiming for as close to 500 FPS (With .2's, obviously) as I can get. The full auto feature will be disabled, in case there's any question about that. It's not that I'm afraid of the mechbox, it's just that it'd be nice to take the gun out of the box and shoot it. However, if you think they'll do a crap job, Minky, I trust your decision.

Yeah, I've been looking at AE for this package. I'm not 100% sure I'd be saving a whole lot of money, simply because they're selling the metal AK body for over twice what WGC is selling it, but it's still an option.

Jacko a little heads up on guarder metal that I JUST found out. Since our last skirmish at my field my RPK has been sitting in the garage under a cloth in hibernation. The gun was stored on a work bench away from any kind of liquid… now when I inspect the guarder metal a little more I am finding rust deposits all over the gun! It’s only on the guarder metal… not the TM metal. This is making me furious as the guarder kit cost me almost 600 bucks. Luckily with a little alcohol and a rag I have been able to clean it up removing almost 100% of the rust… none the less this is discouraging and making me think twice before I purchase something of guarders that will cost an arm and a leg. I don’t under stand it, the only condition it would have been subject to in the garage was extreme cold, but even then… rust?
I’ll look for my digital camera’s software tomorrow and pump out some pictures.

Now that is interesting. PLease do get some pics up. I'll be storing the gun inside a case in the house whenever it's not in use, but I wouldn't want it to start rusting up at, say, a long event.
Of course, I'm not entirely sure how much metal is in the SVD kit besides the outer barrel, flash hider, and a few caps but that's enough to worry me. Thanks for the info, Viking.

This may be a little off but I am curious. If the TM metal doesn't rust, maybe it's not steel. Since aluminum would just corrode, so maybe the gaurder kit is real steel in compairison to some knock off metal from the TM side. Just a thought though I know very little about the composition of the Airsoft AK. I will say just like a real gun if you've got metal than wipe it down with some wd40 on the metal with a rag and then when you store it it won't rust as quickly, also you could get one of the silicone impregnated sleeves(like a gun case) which will allow you to store it for much longer without rust. Just my thoughts.
