Ok. After reading the various posts and articles on different aeg sniper weapons I have decided to talk to you guys about it.
I have an M24 SOCOM (which I am selling) I am selling it because I would like something semiauto.
I had three options originally:
PSG-1: This gun is sexy to say the least, but reviews say it takes at least $400 additional to make it suitable, and up to $600 to make it good.
G3 SG-1: Yet another sexy gun. And agina, the reviews say that it has many problems, including body flex, that would hamper the accuracy of the weapon. These problems can be fixed for a mere $400-$500, and then I can think about FPS upgrades.
M16A3: I have always loved the M16 series. I have not read any bad reviews on this weapon, so currently I think this is my weapon of choice. Is has one of the longest inner barrels in airsoft and countless accessories.
So I now ask you guys. Is there any other AEG options that I missed? And how realistic to MilSim is an M16A2 sniper system?

Hey,
Well, I have A G3 SG-1... and, yes it did have slight body flex problems... but I have fixed them without much trouble at all. I have it rigged out for sniping right now, and I simply love it.
As far as the M-16, I know a lot of people do like that series... Umm I've known of Spec. Ops. using M-14's and M-16's as sniper weapons, but probably not as common as your M24, M40, etc.
The choice is really up to you, but I cannot tell you about how the PSG or M-16 perform, as I have had no prior experience with these two airsoft rifles.
Hope that helps ;D

There's a reason why special forces around the world prefer the M16 platform over thier own country's signature rifle, and it isn't reliability or robustness.... The M16 is tailored for accuracy. Take a beat-up dusty USMC M16A3, replace the carry handle with a scope, and it's gonna hold its own against any bolt-action on the battlefield. Of course bolt-action rifles are inherently more accurate than semi-autos, and the M16's .223 cartridge is pretty small...... But a M16 sniper is not at all unrealistic.

I'd have to say M16A3. But you'll have to take the upgrade route. Plus, It would be much more versitile.

I Think It All Depends On The Range, At Extream Distance, The G3SG1 Is A Better Choise, But For A Multi-Use Rifle, Id Go With The M16 Myself.
