Picked up a pair of these from walmart after a friend told me about them. And Ive got to say I'm rather impressed. While giving a nice amount of ankle support they are also Oil and Water resistant. I mean i was walking threw 4-5 inches deep of water and not a single drop went threw the boots. They also have a flexible midsole so running isn't a problem. Moisture wicking and completely slip resistant. I find them to be very comfy with a snug fit to them. They seem to be very durable as well, been threw some rough terrain and they still don't have a scratch on them. Overall its a good buy, myself and most of Black Umbrella own a pair of them. At at $40 its a good steal if your not looking to spend a lot on boots.

they do look like nice boots and they also look like they can take a lot of abuse.

Wow walmart has good boots? Well it shouldnt come as a suprise I suppose, all shoe manufactures moved overseas so I guess they've had time to improve things.
i need a new pair of boots anyway.

I bought a pair of these back in October. I wear them every day. 5 days out of the week I'm at work on and off a forklift, in and out of junked 747s, moving, kicking and scuffing things around hanger 6 and they've held up well. Comfortable, water resistant I would disagree with because even coating them with mink oil they never held up very well for me. The leather is pretty crappy at the toe, then again I'm used to Carolina's side zip jump boots.
IMO if you pay $30 for a pair of work boots that last at least a year with minimal problems (sole basically intact, eye holes still there) then it's money well spent. HOWEVER, I owned a pair of those Carolina's for six years before the zipper finally pooped out on me. If it wern't for that I'd still be wearing them!!! Those were $129 at Joes Army Navy in Waterford. THAT is money well spent.

The water resistance held up for me at Starlite just fine. And if you saw how the field was that day... damn I have nothing else to say. Never even got a drip inside the boots.

How deep was the water you went in? I've only walked in puddles that were about three inches deep so I haven't really tested them too much.
