With new AEG's come new accessories and so when the time came to pimpify the greatness that is Steyr AUG I had several options.
Of course the first thing that comes to everyones mind is the Phantom/Shadow silencer kit. But I've never really been a fan of those nor did I have the extra cash to spend on such a luxury.
Next I thought about a possible AUG HBAR conversion, but since I couldn't find a bipod that looked like the actual bipod the real AUG HBAR uses I ditched that idea also.
After a little browsing I found exactly what I wanted: [glow=red,2,300]The Marui Knights Type Pro Silencer[/glow]
Just for the heck of it I decided to search ebay for one and found one that was going to end within a couple minutes. I waited till the last moment and swooped in to win the auction. A few days later it arrived at my door.
After recieving the silencer I was surprised by its quality. The silencer had a nice heft to it though it wasn't as heavy as Ballista's old P90 silencer. That of course didn't bother me one bit since the AUG was heavy enough already. The threads are 14mm counter-clockwise and according to the tiny instruction sheet that came with the silencer it'll fit on the following AEG's : SR16, M4A1 (Ris), M16A1-A2, CAR-15, AK-47, MP5K PDW , P90 and of course the AUG series as seen below.
Markings on the silencer are:
SER. NO. QD92601 - Tokyo Marui CO., LTD. MADE IN JAPAN and on the reverse side M4QD CAL. 5.56MM
While the markings and look do make it out to be a QD-Quick-Detachable Silencer it isn't. Doesn't bother me one bit though as I doubt I'd ever be attaching or detaching a silencer out in the middle of a game. The lower price when compared to the QD silencers available is also a lot more appealing.
Overall construction of the silencer is very solid with no odd rattles at all. Unscrewing the end cap off revealed four foam inserts which of course helps soften the AUG's mighty roar. Actually since I've been having trouble with my AUG I wasn't able to test it out till earlier this evening but the sound it made was just music to my ears. I wouldn't say it made things that much quieter but it did lower the pitch and make things a lot deeper sounding.
So there you have it, an amazing looking silencer for a decent price. With all the plain toilet paper roll looking silencers on the market it's great to see something different and I give the Marui Knights Type Pro Silencer a 4 out of 5.
