I'm looking for some decent small radio's for both airsoft and general usage. I'd like to find a combo radio that offers both 2way radio, CB radio, has the weather channels etc. Something I can use camping, airsofting, out off-roading, riding bikes, whatever. Something compact though, not looking to lug around a World War 2 style radio backpack VHF, UHF, FRS, GMRS, so many diffrent things to choose from. Also a big big plus if it works with throat mic's. Anyone make anything like that?

Good luck finding a high end transceiver that is dual band (UHF/VHF) as well as doing the weather channel thing. FRS and GMRS are both in the UHF band, but you're going to exceed the wattage limit (and break the law) as soon as you transmit with most any radio that offers dual band functionality.

Arc's right - if anyone made such a radio, it would have to have internal controls to limit output power on the FRS bands. I also think the antenna would probably be an unsatisfactory compromise. Everything but the CB is readily available, of course. Cabela's ought to sell a few different FRS/GMRS/weather units.

I could have sworn I saw some somewhere. I remember a warning you needed a license or something though.
Thats why I'm asking though, I don't remember.

For GMRS and several other bands, the FCC requires a license. It supposedly costs $70, lasts for five years, and covers your whole family, but about a year ago, I spent roughly two hours on the FCC site looking for an application. Good luck.
EDIT: Additionally, any radio operating on the FRS freq's cannot legally have a detachable antenna.

I went through the process on-line and it was irritating as hell. The FCC seems to have made no effort whatsoever to make the process comprehensible to anyone who doesn't already work there. However, since I did manage to do it once, it obviously can be done if you have some patience.
