I'm going to be careful how I ask this because this is an airsoft forum but what do you guys think would happen if one was to put a G&P Aimpoint Comp2 replica on a real AR or real hand gun?
Would the product stand up to the shock?

I dont know about that perticular scope but why dont you just get a scope built for real steal?

G&P Aimpoint Comp 2 replica $56 dollars in the USA.
Aimpoint Comp 2 $430~450.
I plan to use the thing on my Marui S-System too, I just wondered if they can handle the shock of a real gun. The G&P's are some of the better built Aimpoint Comp 2's.. I think they are as good as any of the King or Samurai's I've seen in person. Just don't know about shock load issues.

Well I'm gonna go ahead and say I doubt it. From a lot of the airsoft equipment (non-gun stuff) i've seen/used/handled I doubt it could stand up to the shock of anything larger that a .22lr. They just aren't built with the need to handle the shock of real guns.

I know G&P ACOG replica's hold up on real M15/AR-15 variants. My friends had a G&P 4x32 ACOG on his Colt AR-15 M4 variant for ages and it doesn't loose adjustment at all and is dead on. He normally puts 500+ rounds threw the thing per trip to the range.

The dot on the G&P comp M2 is nowhere near good enough to even bother trying to use for real-steel shooting. Having compared mine to one of Zorak's Aimpoints, I wouldn't even bother.

The question isn't "would it stand up to the shock" but "for how long would it stand up to the shock?" I'm sure it wouldn't just fall over in a heap the moment you fired a real bullet, but I'm also sure they aren't built for that sort of shock. How comfortable are you in risking the damage to the sight?
I also have doubts about how well one would hold a zero under the shock, but no data.

I'm kind of wondering myself now. How long will it hold up, hrmmm. I don't think the shock would break the replica's but I could see them loosing there settings.
I think I might just buy one and find out. $34 dollars from HK or $109 from Airsoft GI but a certain dealer has them listed for $50 dollars right now.
If it looses its settings owell, I'll slap it on my M4 SIR..

You can always look into a Hakko Tacpoint - basically an aimpoint without the brand name. Runs about $100, if you can get a hold of one.

This is why they are 400 bucks. You can put an m68 through heat, cold, physical abuse and soak it in water. It also has NVG capabilities. I do believe its also filled with nitrogen like most scopes, to keep it from sweating, and the expansion of gases in the tube (Nitrogen as most of you know doesnt expand, that's why it is in scopes, along with the tires of aircraft). I too have mounted an airsoft ACOG on a real M4, and had no issues with it. A .223 doesnt kick much more than a .22 anyways. If you are just plinking I wouldn't be worried about putting a 50 dollar aimpoint on.

Many pellet guns actually do quite a bit of damage to real steel scopes due to the shock/vibrations from the spring (also, some have sort of a "reverse-recoil, you'd know what I mean if you've shot one). I know with my RWS I had to purchase a scope made just for pellet guns (or buy one of those fancy rifle scopes that are built using different methods from your average $50 scope). I imagine airsoft would have a similar problem, seeing as they use the spring method too (as opposed to compressed air like the Sheridans), though I imagine most manufacturer's don't really care about that...
