I am trying to find a radio compatible with my SPH-4 helicopter helmet but one that I can also use as a stand alone radio. Thus far, I have only been able to find replacement parts or different radio headsets.
Additionally, finding adapters had proved fruitless thus far as well. They have all be for aviation (Helicopter radio to fixed wing converter).
I now bring my question to the MiA community - If anyone knows of either a radio (that I could easily carry around) or an adapter for another radio that would be great.
If it helps, the connector on the SPH-4 is a "U-174/U" connector.
Thanks.

Tooth, check out some of the motorcycle/helmet headset/mic combos and see if they can be put into your helmet. if so, you will be able to use any FRS/gmrs radio. I have been on PRYME communications website a lot lately and they have a couple different setups to fit into a motorcycle helmet and they might be adaptable to your helo helmet?
